🇺🇸UPDATE: The man who launched the GoFundMe that raised nearly $500,000 for Red Baron employee Walter Zerod after a viral prank video, Luke Oakenshield, is now the beneficiary of a GoFundMe himself after it was revealed that Oakenshield is a homeless military veteran living out of his car.
A friend started the separate fundraiser that has already raised thousands, and Oakenshield confirmed the details of his situation on the new page.
Oakenshield said he started the original fundraiser for Walter "because I know struggle".
🇺🇸A Red Baron employee went viral after an influencer staged a fake Apple Pay theft while he was stocking frozen pizzas, prompting the worker to say he was already late getting home to his 4 kids and still couldn’t pay his mortgage.
A GoFundMe launched in his support has raised more than $300,000 from over 8,000 donations, with the worker, identified as Walt Z from Michigan, requesting privacy.
The company’s parent, Schwan’s, said it is standing by him and that he remains a valued employee.
