During the talk which was held in The Lydia and Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre @V_and_A We heard from creative polymath @_charlesjeffrey and academic #FenellaHitchcock in conversation exploring the spectre of the #diva in fashion’s #queer psyche.

His work has been a constant source of inspiration ever since and I have been humbled by the kindness and generosity that Charles has shown me as a young budding artist and designer myself establishing myself in London. It was a dream come true to finally meet one of my heroes.

Since joining The Met in 2002, Bolton has mounted a string of 'blockbuster' exhibitions, including @alexandermcqueen : Savage Beauty (2011), China: Through the Looking Glass (2015), and Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination (2018)

During the talk, Bolton recalled the twists and turns of the #curatorial process, sharing 'behind-the-scenes' anecdotes from his experience. It was a rare opportunity to hear directly from the #curator about his creative process and how he brings thematic exhibitions to life.

As Wendy Yu Curator in Charge, Andrew Bolton, OBE is the chief mastermind behind the operation - he is responsible for the #exhibition, from the concept, to working with #design houses, #architects, and other collaborators on every element.

The show is presented as a conceptual essay rather than a traditional retrospective and explores recurring #aesthetic themes that appeared in Lagerfeld's #fashions across his 65-year career.
