Malaysia has no immediate plans to issue a diplomatic note or take legal action against Indonesia over the transboundary haze, said Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan.
"Hubungan rapat kedua-dua negara ini perlu juga dijaga. Nota diplomatik adalah langkah terakhir. Kita belum sampai ke tahap itu," he added.

KL reported an air quality index of 218 today. The haze is getting worse.
A report by Greenpeace & Pantau Gambut found that the Malaysian company, Kuala Lumpur Kepong (KLK) Group is one of the top 20 companies tied to the recent forest fires in Indonesia.

Environmental and student activists marched to parliament this morning , demanding the government to urgently table a Clean Air bill. Corporate players suspected of causing haze & hotspots must be probed and be held legally responsible through credible evidence.

Without ANY tax increase, cigarette prices won't keep up with inflation (effectively getting cheaper).
Since 2016 cigarettes have actually gotten 12% cheaper (in real terms). Meanwhile, (real) food prices have gone up by up to 48%.

You cannot preach humanity at the UN while sending people back to a country deemed unsafe. What is “voluntary” when they are in immigration detention with no meaningful alternative? Human rights cannot be preached abroad and compromised for domestic politics.
The case for health taxes (on tobacco, alcohol, and sugary drinks) is strong.
Health taxes deliver a rare "triple win": improving public health, generating government revenue, and reducing healthcare costs.
Yet reforms frequently stalls. Why?

Even smokers support an additional cigarette tax this Budget 2027.
Research by Social & Economic Research Initiative (SERI) shows:
- 8 in 10 Malaysians support a further tobacco tax
- 66% of smokers backed last year's (modest) 2 sen/stick cigarette tax increase.
Since 2016, the real prices of nasi lemak, satay, and white rice have surged by up to 48%. Cigarettes have become cheaper by 12%.

A doctor (Dr Christine Lu) at a KK hospital lodged a sexual harassment complaint against the hospital director (Dr Yogendra Panchalingam, her then-superior) -- at the Tribunal for Anti-Sexual Harassment (TAGS).
