Recent study: Higher general cognitive ability in childhood predicts a faster pace of gray matter contraction and slower maturation of white matter and functional connectivity during adolescence — both of which are generally considered good things. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/article…

New collaboration between @sangerinstitute & @amsterdamumc in @NatureGenet! The largest study to date on the association between DNA & intelligence. We reduce ascertainment bias and boost power by imputing missing intelligence scores in @uk_biobank. nature.com/articles/s41588-0… 👇🏽

One of the best (and only) recent papers on the subject!
The truth is that IQ is modestly *positively* correlated with higher creative achievement. Genetically, creative achievement and general ability are independent. icajournal.scholasticahq.com…

Very good article regarding the anomaly that Mensa has always represented - certainly not representative of high IQ by any stretch (along with the other spinoffs).
Are Mensa members smart? Yes, but not as smart as their standards suggest The reason is that their scores aren't comparable to those of normal people: they score much higher than expected based on their ability! Mensans are obsessed with games, invalidating their test results:

Polish 26 year old guitar master Marcin Patrzałek respond to those who have made public comments claiming that his music is fake. He made this video in a tutorial form showing how he manages to play so extraordinarily well in response. And yes, it's all played on one guitar.

One of my favorite paintings - every time I go to MOMA I visit this old friend
For years many people did not know the real story, and didn’t even notice her arm. In truth, what Wyeth depicted went beyond one desperate predicament to a universal one.

Libertarianism isn’t about “the world revolving around you” or “hyperindividualism”; it’s about advancing human cooperation, which is best achieved by protecting individual liberty. Hayek explained it best: fee.org/ebooks/individualism…

The brain’s communication network is built from billions of delicate connections 💫 This animation uses diffusion tensor imaging to visualize major white matter pathways, including the cingulum and inferior fronto-occipital fasciculus, revealing the intricate architecture that carries information across the brain 🧠🗺️

Because some get to bounce around like they are on the moon while others feel the pull of earthly limits: gravity is a perfect metaphor
I’m still genuinely confused why IQ makes people so angry. It’s like getting mad at gravity for existing. Makes no sense.

McGovern neuroscientists have discovered that you don't need language to think logically. People with severe language impairments solve complex reasoning puzzles perfectly and brain scans show language areas remain silent during logical reasoning. mcgovern.mit.edu/2026/07/06/…
