A group of underdogs. Ex-affiliates with a chip on our shoulder and a $8 domain. No one believed in us. Not investors, our family or friends. What they didn't realize is there was a hook lodged in us that they could not see. Success was not a choice, it was the only damn option we had. We would've died before we gave up. We built @AxonAdsManager over fourteen years, so we could help the underdogs. Those who are crazy enough to take on the impossible.
This is the best founder you've never heard of. Adam Foroughi's company prints $5 billion in cash a year with just 400 people. When his stock price dropped by 92%, he borrowed money to buy back $6 billion in stock. That bet made the company more than $60 billion. The entire C-suite is just 4 people. To this day, Adam approves every hire. This episode has the highest insight-to-minute ratio of any conversation I've had so far. Ten years ago, Sam Turgeon was a college dropout living in his mom’s basement. He was tired all the time and had a hunch breakfast was to blame, so he and his co-founder started mixing powders. Everyone, his mom included, wanted to know what he was doing with his life. He went all in anyway. Those basement powders became HOLOS, and today it’s an eight-figure business selling across North America. Helping businesses grow is the core of what we do, and stories like this never get old.

He’s a good guy, a close friend, and one of my favorite podcasters. His work has benefited millions of people all across the world. Please watch this episode and see if you can help with medicine, introductions, or donations. 0:00 What Ben has learned from making How to Take Over the World and studying history’s greatest leaders. 55:51 Living like you're dying. Want to figure out how to get hundreds of UGC videos upfront with zero cost or just improve your video creation strategy? You gotta watch this video. The best part of @hectorserrranoo's strategy is that you can go from production to getting all your ads live on @AppLovin and other ad platforms all with just a few clicks using @TrybeUGC. No more guessing the right strategy. No more manual ad uploads.
i built @WisprFlow’s paid ads program here’s how i’d rebuild it in 30 days

I love that every time @LukasPakter tweets about AppLovin, it’s in ALL CAPS.. He’s either really excited about the partnership or entering his dictator phase.. Either way, I’m here for it and excited to help @TrybeUGC brands crush it!

One of the best arguments I’ve seen for prioritizing creative volume. Creative volume and quality don't need to be at odds. Rather, volume is the mechanism by which quality emerges. Excerpt from Chapter 11 of Atomic Habits “On the first day of class, Jerry Uelsmann, a professor at the University of Florida, divided his film photography students into two groups. Everyone on the left side of the classroom, he explained, would be in the “quantity” group. They would be graded solely on the amount of work they produced. On the final day of class, he would tally the number of photos submitted by each student. One hundred photos would rate an A, ninety photos a B, eighty photos a C, and so on. Meanwhile, everyone on the right side of the room would be in the “quality” group. They would be graded only on the excellence of their work. They would only need to produce one photo during the semester, but to get an A, it had to be a nearly perfect image. At the end of the term, he was surprised to find that all the best photos were produced by the quantity group. During the semester, these students were busy taking photos, experimenting with composition and lighting, testing out various methods in the darkroom, and learning from their mistakes. In the process of creating hundreds of photos, they honed their skills. Meanwhile, the quality group sat around speculating about perfection. In the end, they had little to show for their efforts other than unverified theories and one mediocre photo.”

Last BFCM, @AppLovin became the 3rd highest spending media channel in the stack. @tonychoPPC, who runs over $1B in spend at @CommnThreadCo, explains why he calls it idiot proof: "AppLovin's media spend on Black Friday and Cyber Monday last year bucked the curve. It just went up all throughout the weekend." "They built it kind of like idiot proof." Me: "Which some of us need. Like me." @tonychoPPC: "The default out of the box for AppLovin is 0-day click attribution. Compare this to the Google Ads platform's attribution out of the box: 30-day click, 3-day engaged view, 1-day view." "They basically gave media people no options to screw anything up."

They call Dovas Zakas, "The Crazy Lithuanian" at @HelloFresh. At work he is a Swiss Army knife. He can do media buying, graphic design, negotiate like hell, and even down to model for his ads... In fact, he made sure to use our studio time to record some ads for his brand. On top of that, he’s on a 1,100+ day workout streak (still going), about to do his second Ironman, and makes time for his family. We started working together in Nov 2024. Early data looked great. I thought we were going to the moon together. Then he served us humble pie. LTVs weren’t there. The product fell short. Every check-in was a kick in the ass. That critical feedback was very valuable in the early stages of our product. He churned at one point but gave us another shot, this time with a strict incrementality test via @HausAnalytics. The second time around the results were much better and we're now great partners! Just goes to show that the best partners aren’t always the easy ones.
The Pets Table came in skeptical. We respect that. They ran an incrementality test with @HausAnalytics to verify our numbers. We love that even more. The results? Truly incremental, strong customer quality. "I'm definitely going to have AppLovin as part of my marketing mix." — Dovas Zakas, Co-Founder & CMO, The Pets Table. #DTC #ecommerce #performancemarketing

I can confirm. Never interacted with @mikebeckhamsm until the 9Operators event this week. Don’t even remember what we spoke about and walked away thinking he’s a great guy. On a serious note, the whole team is incredible. They’ve always been helpful and generous with their time to me and the rest of @AppLovin. 9Operators is a great force for the industry and excited to see where they take the community & podcast from here!
People won’t remember what you say, they remember how you made them feel. Building a business is hard. There are so many challenges and most of us don’t know many other people in our local communities who can relate to the obstacles we face every day. I’ve gotten feedback from hundreds of @9operators listeners over the last year. I’ve learned that the podcast meets a need that no on else is addressing. But I also have more clarity than ever about our mission. We exist to provide community and practical help to people in the trenches building companies. Creating something new and valuable in the world is ludicrously hard and lonely. Our insecurity ratchets up the challenge. All of us, myself included, can find ourselves playing the numbers game. Trying to define our value from a number on a dashboard. One of the biggest breakthroughs in my life has been realizing that my identity is not in the size of my company. I’m as driven and ambitious as I’ve ever been, but not because I need my company’s growth to make me feel like I have value. There’s a reason why social media has been proven to reduce our happiness and emotional stability. It activates our worst tendencies and biggest insecurities. It encourages us to embellish the wins and hide the losses. Success porn content like that will always do numbers, but it leaves us feeling more empty and insecure after we consume it. Because even if social media presents a world where everything is always up into the right, no one’s real life works that way. We have made almost 200 episodes of Operators. I’m confident the next 200 will be even better. Because we know the mission that we are chasing AND the pitfalls to avoid.

Less than 1% of advertisers in the world use @AppLovin yet we have north of $11B of annual ad spend on the platform and reach over a billion users daily. In baseball terms, the players just walked onto the field for the national anthem. The first inning hasn’t even started yet.
Applovin CEO, Adam Foroughi, on stage at All In Summit. “Here’s something that got us to this point, we never think we won….there’s this ability to take on giants if you remain lean and move faster than them.”

I helped a beauty brand scale to over $200K/day, and they told me that not only would they refuse to do a case study, but they’d also tell their friends we sucked just to keep the competition away. 😂
I just had lunch with a founder who is coming on the show soon. He told me Applovin is crushing for them. Then immediately after said: “Can’t talk about that on the podcast. Don’t want my competitors to know.”

@AppLovin has quickly become one of the most talked-about ad channels in ecommerce. But does it actually create incremental revenue? Or is it just good at claiming credit for conversions that would have happened anyway? We analyzed 12 months of data across 755 shops using three different measurement methods: - Attribution - MMM - Real-world geo holdout tests Here's what we found: 1. AppLovin generated a 2.90 lifetime Triple Attribution ROAS, compared with 2.08 across the other platforms in the study. 61% of qualifying shops saw a higher ROAS from AppLovin. 2. Our Foundation MMM found that 66% of AppLovin advertisers had a higher expected incremental return per additional dollar than their own benchmark across other platforms. 3. Five of seven geo holdout tests produced statistically significant results. All five showed positive revenue lift, averaging 8.3% and ranging from 3.5% to 13.5%. 4. AppLovin represented only 7.7% of combined ad spend across the cohort. TL;DR: AppLovin is creating real incremental revenue. The results show that AppLovin deserves a legitimate test with enough budget and runway to prove itself, especially before BFCM. Full report: triplewhale.com/blog/applovi…
