I wanted to watch the @lexfridman episode with @dhh, but Lex talks way too slow for me.
So I built Lex Speedman: it speeds Lex up to 2x and keeps the guest at 1x, cutting up to 20% off the episode.
No account, no install, just paste a YouTube link.

Dad buys stock at $250K.
It grows to $12M.
If he sells, he owes tax on an $11.75M gain.
Instead, he puts it in a trust.
Borrows against it.
Borrowing is not income. So no tax.
He lives on loans. Never sells.
He dies holding the asset.
Kids inherit at a $12M basis.
IRS gets $0
Weekend design for a simple Open Source project I've been working on.
There's still work to do...
What do you think?

What Did I Miss?
So roughly ~700B in CapEx by the Mag 7 aimed at AI in 2026 but when asked the Business Model nobody knows?
Interesting times we live in...
My Documents route was useless and boring - so I rebuilt it 📄
- Goal: simple "document shelf" you get at a glance.
- Sortable table
- Tabs: Generated & Base CVs
- Docs previews
- Recent Files box with a neumorphic touch I'm proud of
Sometimes the best UX is a good old table.
Shipped CV preview in jobtrackr - no more downloading just to check a file.
PDF, Markdown & DOCX:
→ PDF: in-app, pages + zoom
→ MD: safe render (no raw HTML)
→ DOCX: Gotenberg → PDF, cached in R2
One ownership-checked endpoint. Still WIP, but this chunk is done ✅
New feature in JobTrackr
Upload and manage a base CV through a cloud-backed documents flow.
Back: R2 storage (Cloudflare), Spring controller/service, Flyway migration, validation + tests.
Front: new Documents route, API client.
Small step - but it unlocks what comes next 🗂️
Implemented paginated company search in JobTrackr: Spring Data web config, page responses, controller/service tests.
Clients can browse growing catalogs efficiently.
Thoughts arrive uninvited, like threads requesting resources from a scheduler.
You don’t choose the request - but you choose the allocation.
That choice is where freedom actually lives.
Don’t allow negative low-value threads take more resources than it deserves.
Now code is mostly written by agents
But I think this tip from “The Pragmatic Programmer” still applies:
“Don’t program by coincidence”
Does it still apply? Or in the agent we trust…
Big milestone for #JobTrackr 🔐
Just added real auth: register, login, short-lived JWTs + rotating refresh tokens with reuse detection in secure cookies
If someone steals a refresh token and tries to reuse it, the entire session gets revoked
Not bad for a morning of code ☕
