Day11 staredown!
Yz Hōshōryū 8-2 (L)
Sw Takayasu 6-4 (R)
Have to share this first, these two were staring each other down even leading up to this, but then it reached a new level right before the bout. Staredown by the way is called “niramiai” in Japanese #harubasho2026

Wakatakakage with 12 wins, Wakamotoharu with 11. I don’t know any sumo fans who don’t like these brothers. They have comparatively modest frames, but their sumo is very strong and orthodox. They’ve shown how far good sumo can take you.

Ah--the plot thickens.
The writer (below) suggests a JSA bias for Kotozakura as he is the great hope for sumo's next yokozuna which is critical because of Terunofuji's precarious health.
So the absence of a mono-ii per the outrageously wrong call in favor of Kotozakura, who clearly touched down while Tobizaru was still flying, may just be overt favoritism and a helpful push towards Zakura's first yusho.
Tobizaru himself said, "I don't feel that I lost."

Right: poorly drawn Pompey, League One Champions, drawn very quickly and with minimal artistic ability. Portsmouth fans, this is the price you pay for success. Apologies in advance x 💙
