Pavel commented on the stereotypes of associating height with character roles in BL, as if being shorter automatically meant “cute/bottom” and being taller meant “masculine/top”. “A lot of people think shorter male characters need to be ‘cute,’ but that’s not true. Being short can also express masculinity, and it’s not always necessary to portray a taller person as if they were a completely different or superior version. Even if a character is shorter, he can have a mature side, and characters can be recreated in new ways depending on the story being told. Real life is diverse, we don’t need to rely on stereotypes.” He also emphasized that, at the end of the day, what truly matters is how the story is delivered and the opportunity to show new perspectives to the audience, because what will always prevail is: “The love between two people.”.
