Eagle BX Escapes With a 60-58 Win Against Monsignor Scanlan on a Game-Winner🏀 During @smartballnyc Super 8, we got to cover a public school vs catholic school  matchup between @theacademybx and @scanlanmbb.  The defending PSAL City Champs, @theacademybx came out ready to play while Scanlan got off to a slow start. They were pressing 94 feet, forcing turnovers, and lived in the paint. They controlled the tempo for the first three quarters and seemed like they had a frustrated Scanlan right where they wanted them, but that would all change in the fourth.  Scanlan flipped the switch in the fourth quarter. They closed the gap by connecting on multiple threes from above the break and hustling for offensive boards which led to multiple second-chance opportunities. Scanlan would tie the game at 58 with 18 seconds left.  Eagle would have the last possession and ran their set with confidence. With a drive from senior guard Elijah King, he would dish it out to his teammate Robert Gillman who would hit the corner mid-range shot with 6 seconds left on the clock. Forced to go the length of the floor, Scanlan rushed a three-pointer that didn’t fall. Eagle BX escaped with a 60-58 win.  #EagleBX #Scanlan #RipandGo #SmartballClassic

Ethan Edwards(‘28) Picks His Spots and Makes Plays From All Three Levels🏀 Edwards is a junior guard for @MensSfp whom we got to cover during The Preview hosted by @eleve11hoops. With so many talented teammates on the floor, Edwards did what we expect a lead guard to do: set the table for his teammates and be ready to shoot. Edwards did that to perfection in this showing. On multiple possessions, he buried three after three due to his teammates finding him beyond the arc after drawing multiple defenders. He made two threes off the catch and made one off the dribble after selling a pump fake. Edwards likes to use his speed and a change of pace to get in the lane. In situations where his team broke their opponent’s press, he found himself in mismatches with bigger defenders, where he used a hesitation dribble to freeze the big man and finish at the rim. He also showed off his skill set on a drive, where he sold a pump fake that got his defender in the air, and knocked down a one-legged push shot. #StFrancisPrep #Eleve11hoops #RipandGo #NYCBasketball
