King Harald V has passed. He will be remembered as warm and inclusive, yet principled and steadfast. He led us through challenging times, and both represented and shaped what Norway is today. The King is dead, long live the King. Long live King Haakon VIII!vg.no/nyheter/i/wAbJyM/et-sa…

“You go to one school after you finish your SERE specialist training, and you head up to Deadhorse, Alaska. If you know that area, extreme winter survival. We got down to like -60, -70°F. I think one day we got down to -80.”
“The first thing they told us: ‘Upend your canteens.’ So we dump out all of the water, and we start a 48-hour dehydration exercise in the sand dunes. It sucked.”

The days of our brief sojourn in this world are predetermined, and the duration of all our trials and tests is confined to this life. We are not required to abandon the world, because it is the realm of action; rather, we are required to make it subservient to the Hereafter. Living by this principle is a sign, standard, and measure of spiritual awakening.
Whenever you are about to make a decision in worldly matters, ask yourself whether that action will benefit your Hereafter or cause you harm. If it will benefit your Hereafter, go ahead and do it; but if it will harm your Hereafter, refrain from it.
