The Clarity Act failing today makes everybody a loser, all because partisan jockeying beat out common sense:
The lines between tokens and securities are no more clear.
Entrepreneurs will still prefer to build and raise capital offshore.
Investors will receive no more information, or protections.
Developers have no additional safeguards for decentralized systems.
Banks are stuck with stablecoins able to pay rewards (yield).
There are zero ethical guardrails for government employees and crypto.
The list goes on.
But mostly I just feel for the countless folks in the industry and across the House and Senate (of both parties) that worked on this for so long, and the light of American leadership dimming just a tad.

After Robinhood raised the gas limit and lowered fees for users on Robinhood Chain, chain revenues have declined significantly (green), while DEX volumes have remained strong (purple). It's solidly #2 behind Solana.
Lots of folks pointing at this like it's a mistake. But it's clearly intentional. And if you actually believe in the growth of RWAs and on-chain finance, this is 100% the right answer.
Robinhood is thinking a lot bigger than optimizing for short-term sequencing fees. Owning the ecosystem and bringing tokenized assets on-chain and increasing the GDP of the blockchain is the much bigger long-term bet, and that will only happen if capacity scales and fees stay low. They will make it up on volume.
Bullish.

Trillions of dollars are held in digital assets, yet much of that value still remains disconnected from the financial system.

This is core to how we think at Flexa: the future of payments should be open, interoperable, and asset agnostic—not dependent on one asset, one chain, or one winner.

The biggest disease in Washington isn't corruption.
It's refusing to acknowledge when the other side gives you something.
Republicans should admit Democrats made this bill better.
Democrats should admit they won meaningful concessions.
If neither side is willing to acknowledge reality, why would anyone ever negotiate again?

Ethics restrictions matter. BUT regardless of their form, the options here are:
(A) Block CLARITY and all digital asset activities will continue unabated and unregulated; or
(B) Pass CLARITY and all digital activities will be regulated and subject to ethics requirements.

$HOOD
I have covered Robinhood for the past 3 years, and it is fair to say that something really different has happened in the past 2 weeks since their Crypto event in the UK.
Why? Well...
Just over one week after launch of the Robinhood Chain:
- 17M+ transactions
- Nearly 350K total addresses
- Nearly $250M in protocol TVL
- More than $1B in DEX trading volume
And three days ago, Robinhood Chain flipped Hyperliquid in 24-hour DEX volume, according to DefiLlama:
Robinhood Chain: $433.19M
Hyperliquid: $296.23M
The implications for $HOOD are significant and really cannot be ignored by the market.
Robinhood is evolving from a brokerage that earns from customer trading activity into a vertically integrated financial ecosystem with its own blockchain, exchange infrastructure, tokenized assets and on-chain liquidity.
This along with the Trump accounts is why I think the stock has finally decoupled from $BTC and is now trading at 80% above its lows in May. Bitcoin could go up or down, the market has moved on with pegging HOOD's stock to random BTC fluctuations, because HOOD is so, so much more important than what happens with any individual coin.
If Robinhood Chain continues gaining adoption, Robinhood could capture economics from:
- Blockchain transaction fees
- DEX trading and liquidity activity
- Tokenized stocks and real-world assets (something Vlad really wants to push heavily as he sees the entire world is moving on chain)
- Stablecoin payments and settlement
- Third-party applications built on its network
- Increased customer deposits and engagement
The bigger opportunity is that Robinhood may no longer need to simply route transactions through financial infrastructure owned by other companies.
It could increasingly own the infrastructure itself...which has always been the bull case for them in crypto. It's not just about making fees off people trading coins, but owning the entire stack when it comes to the broader crypto ecosystem.
That gives Robinhood more control over the customer experience, potentially stronger margins and several new recurring revenue streams.
It is still early, and some of the initial volume may be driven by launch incentives, but Robinhood Chain is already showing that the company could become far more than a retail brokerage. The main assets being traded on it right now are meme coins, which some people may think are a joke, but to me this is showing the willingness of so many native crypto investors to accept Robinhood Chain as a legitimate platform to be able to trade on and eventually, millions of other assets with real world utility will come on chain.
$HOOD is building toward becoming a global, crypto-native financial platform and that level of innovation and speed is what has helped the stock recover this year but is also getting the street excited for the future, diversified streams of revenue which will continue to compound earnings over the coming years.
LFG.

Today marks a new chapter for Flexa.
Under @dannymccb’s leadership, Flexa built one of the most robust regulatory and compliance foundations in digital asset payments—earning licenses, trust, and the infrastructure needed to scale.
As @trev now steps into the CEO role and @realupneet becomes President, our core objective remains unchanged: making digital asset payments, payouts, and disbursements faster, safer, and more useful in the real world.
This next phase is about execution, scale, and bringing years of preparation to life.
The work continues. Onward!

There's a lot of confusion about the recently patched Zcash bug. Here's how to actually understand it.
If the bug had been exploited before the patch (very unlikely it was), it would have looked like the shielded pool getting drained. Whoever minted the counterfeit shielded ZEC would want to sell fast, before anyone else found the same bug. And remember, the market for ZEC is almost entirely transparent ZEC, not shielded. You can't dump freshly minted shielded ZEC on Binance or Coinbase without unshielding it first.
The losers in that scenario are shielded holders who sit still. The transparent portion of Zcash is fully visible, so it's trivial to enforce that transparent ZEC never exceeds max supply. If you try to unshield more than the cap, you'll get stopped at the door.
So if you hold transparent ZEC (anyone trading, on an exchange, or doing price discovery on ZEC) there's no marginal effect on you. The loss falls entirely on shielded holders.
The team's next step is a new turnstile and a fresh shielded pool in the coming upgrade, which will confirm the shielded pool was not inflated. Think of it as taking headcount at the end of the field trip--that will make sure no extra kids snuck onto the bus.
But while AI found this bug, AI will also deliver the fix for the whole category: formal verification. I'm very bullish on this as the path to harden all software across the industry. Formally verified cryptography can't have implementation bugs by construction.
Right now AI is surfacing vulnerabilities across all our software--browsers, OSes, and blockchains are no exception. We're in the awkward adolescence where every wart is getting magnified and put on full display. But formally verified software is the only path forward for mission-critical software, and Zcash has put it front and center on their roadmap to deliver.
Privacy is too important not to.

The digital revolution is upon us, and it has presented a clear opportunity to support small businesses, generate wealth, spur innovation, and support younger Americans who want to be part of this revolution. And this digital revolution is happening with us or without us—we have a responsibility to regulate it to create rules of the road.
That is why I’ve been at the table. I’ve been in negotiations for over nine months, working toward regulating digital assets in a way that protects consumers and reduces the risks of deposit flight and deceptive marketing. I have negotiated in good faith with colleagues on both sides of the aisle willing to meet this critical moment. I’ve worked to make this bill better.
Let me be very clear: my vote today is a vote to keep working in good faith. It does not mean I will be voting for the passage of the CLARITY Act on the floor. We still have work to do.
We need to find a workable way to address law enforcement’s concerns about financial crimes. I am a former prosecutor and know how important that is. We also need to include an agreement on ethics—that would apply not just to the President and Vice President but to all of us. The American people—especially my constituents—expect that from us.
I will keep working with my colleagues to get this done. Americans—from every background and every community—deserve to benefit financially from this digital revolution and be protected from the risks that come with it. If we don’t act, we will be left behind. I won’t let that happen.

Today, the Senate Banking Committee will vote to advance the CLARITY Act.
I am proud of the countless hours that my team, Treasury, SEC, CFTC, and Senate Banking staff and members have put into shaping this product. On every issue, we put forward real solutions to address stakeholder concerns or Democrat demands. It often required us to get creative; sometimes, it required us to get uncomfortable. But we did it in the spirit of bipartisanship.
Make no mistake: Whether today’s vote is partisan or bipartisan will depend entirely on politics, not policy. The CLARITY Act is not only good policy, it is necessary policy for the United States to maintain our leadership position in global financial markets. Not to mention the robust consumer protections and anti-illicit finance provisions it contains, without which, there are none.
This morning’s vote will reveal whether Democrats have genuinely moved on from their war on crypto, or whether they remain cowed by Elizabeth Warren. The choice is theirs.
