Short thread that lands on a quick read about how @Orbillion1 got started and what we're working on. Grateful to work where there's a shared belief that we're all stronger when we show up as the purposeful, creative, and everlearning humans we are.

"People call it cultivated meat, no kill meat, cultured meat, but what they shouldn't call it anymore is lab-grown meat because... this is no longer about the lab this is about..." 📢 FOOD! w/ @eatjust's game changing approval & sale, it's finally about making & eating food. 🙌
We share our historic meat news with @jchatterleyCNN and highlight the kinder, healthier world my 1.5 year-old-niece will grow up in. vimeo.com/491775211/df48d8f0…

Great coverage of Reagan-appointed NC judge calling out 📢 racial inequities 📢 economic burden 📢 environmental destruction 📢 human health ramifications 📢 animal cruelty of industrialized hog farming. is this opinion a reckoning? @RyanBethencourt another part of NC living
Could defeat in nuisance lawsuits herald a reckoning for the NC hog industry? bit.ly/39aIT9T #ncpol via @ncpolicywatch #ncga #ncfarms #ncpork @SmithfieldFoods

'This reality may still be 5 years off, but in science that is little more than a blink of an eye.'
NEWS - “Our technology will help us produce meat that’s faster to market, higher quality, and more cost effective" - @DLuining for Massive Science. Sounds good right!? If you want to learn more, check out the full story on @massivesci massivesci.com/articles/cult…

Loved seeing that @alexlorestani & the @GeltorInc team just closed their $91.3M Series B! With their proteins-on-demand, brands can create more sustainable versions of the products we love - so it's a win all around 🙌
If price and product experience are the central #culturedmeat supply-side issues that #cellularagriculture companies are working on, what do you see as the key demand-side issues we can be working on?

There’s a Covid-19 outbreak at Hickman’s egg farm in Arizona. The affected workers are 5 of 140+ incarcerated women who were sent to live and work on the farm during the pandemic. Hickman’s has used prison "work crews" for 25 years. abc15.com/news/local-news/in…

If climate crisis + human health + animal welfare aren't convincing enough that it's time for #culturedmeat perhaps food insecurity will be?! Stoked to read @chasepurdy's book #BillionDollarBurger his post 🔗 #cellularagriculture to COVID lessons learned is worth a read 🥓🍔🇺🇸
What’s standing between you and chicken nuggets for which no chickens or humans had to suffer? slate.trib.al/pwHmLTZ

Great article by @LizSpecht @jan_dutkiewicz in @wired to rebuild a resilient food value chain we must rely on plants not animals & leverage "strengths of the existing system while building alternatives to the most vulnerable and highest-risk elements." bit.ly/2TstNUB
During times of crisis, essential health services are often interrupted -- which can kill more people than the virus itself. We must support health workers to keep safe & keep serving during #COVID19. bit.ly/2yhldAL #WHA73 #PPEforAll

#Culturedmeat companies still have "a chance to adopt a decentralized model that could avoid the weaknesses of the United States’ monolithic meat industry." Their Achilles heel is exposed = centralization 🙌 @IshaDatar for your voice in this

🧡 when different parts of my world collide like when a financial newsletter gives me updates on the rise of #alternativeprotein. This is something I can get used to.

"For years, we have knowingly destroyed our planet for the sake of a protein preference. Now, we are sending humans to their deaths." READ this powerful op-ed by Jonathan Safran Foer washingtonpost.com/opinions/…
🔑 takeaway: Worker devastation is a failure of leadership, "meat industry’s failure to protect its employees..." and such a failure could happen in ANY industry #alternativeprotein companies must commit to respectful and safe working conditions, cannot be taken for granted.
Whole thread and article well worth reading. "'Protein markets are unequivocally the most volatile and least predictable I have ever witnessed,' says equity analyst Heather Jones." Meaning, *animal* protein markets are volatile. Alternative proteins can mitigate this.

Rereading @KrisGasteratos @CellAgriculture fantastic paper "90 Reasons to Consider Cellular Agriculture" & thinking there's surely a 91st reason re: social distancing during a pandemic. Need a refresher on @90ReasonsCellAg? Check out dash.harvard.edu/handle/1/38… #alternativeprotein
