All too rare. @FinancialReview should ask permission to reprint it
A well-argued rejoinder to the bilious tide of saint-claiming going on right now. From a business owner/originator who clearly knows what he’s talking about. Bravo

If under the Opposition a permanent resident taxpayer (but non citizen) can’t gain welfare if they need it, why stop there. Surely non-citizens shouldn’t be able to call the police, or join a library, or seek help at a public hospital regardless of the taxes they’ve paid. 🤷‍♂️

Can't stop thinking about Elon Musk, the wealthiest man alive worth $828 billion, spending $290 million to elect Trump, becoming $563 billion richer since Trump was elected and ending humanitarian aid that will lead to the deaths of 4.5 million of the poorest kids on the planet.

An excellent final observation from Gideon Haigh on Offsiders today about Gillon MCLachlan’s Tabcorp appointment and the nexus between sport, gambling and commercial broadcasters. Worth a watch and share.

For the life of me, I don’t know why, in our hearts, we would say no to such an elegant and simple proposition.

The usual valid argument that we were shit for the first three quarters doesn’t apply tonight either. Because we had a killer last quarter and actually won.

So good @NickBryantNY. The so-called patriots of Australia propounding an Americanised valorisation of our Constitution. That’s what happens when one culture’s output so dominates another. This referendum is a uniquely Australian moment. Let’s get it right. #VoteYesAustralia
