LINGO-1 just keeps getting better! Here's our latest AI breakthrough enabling the ability to now "show and tell" while we drive.
LINGO-1 doesn't just describe what it sees; it can also show us what it sees! 👀 Introducing referential segmentation - a new feature that grounds what #LINGO1 describes to specific objects in the image 🖼💬, allowing for more accurate and trustworthy responses. Watch below👇

Pleasure to host Transport Secretary @Mark_J_Harper for an autonomous drive from DfT to Parliament (in pouring rain on a complex route we'd never done before!) to demonstrate the opportunity to improve road safety and celebrate the UK's announcement of self-driving legislation.
Our Automated Vehicles Bill will 👇 🚘 Ensure safety is at the heart of self-driving tech 🇬🇧 Put the UK at the forefront of this growing industry I got a lift in a self-driving car with the CEO of @wayve_ai to discuss how our plans will help unlock a transport revolution

Great news that the UK Government has committed to introducing legislation for the safe deployment of self-driving vehicles. This will bring safer roads, economic benefits, and a clearer path ahead for @wayve_ai and other innovators in this exciting new industry. #selfdriving #ai
We were thrilled to see legislation to support the safe deployment of self-driving vehicles included in the King’s Speech today. This announcement sends an important signal to the global #selfdriving industry that the UK Government is committed to fostering innovation for the future of transport. We look forward to continued collaboration with the Government to make the UK a global centre of excellence for self-driving technology that will unlock new opportunities for more accessible and sustainable transportation

This is a huge moment for self-driving in the UK! I am delighted that an Automated Vehicles Bill was included in the King’s Speech today. This legislation gives companies like Wayve the green light to grow our businesses in the UK and bring the benefits of this transformative technology here first. #KingsSpeech #selfdriving #autonomousvehicles

A big week for AI policy! The Bletchley Agreement is a good starting point for a unified international approach to AI regulation—it’s encouraging to see a more measured tone on the risks with a commitment to innovation. But… ⚖️ It's crucial that any legal frameworks are sector specific as domain-expert regulators are best placed to assess the benefits and navigate the risks of AI while encouraging innovation 📍The hard work starts now. We need to make sure our sector regulators can support the huge opportunity AI presents to bring new products to market safely 🤔 Further consideration is needed on how increased transparency might overly impact SMEs and start-ups in protecting their intellectual property, especially across different jurisdictions gov.uk/government/publicatio…

This week, the UK Govt hosts the AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park (home to Alan Turing’s work pioneering the field of AI). Balancing innovation and safety is a complex, ongoing debate and I’m not sure anyone has figured out how to regulate general purpose frontier AI models yet. However it’s crucial not to let this distract us from unlocking extraordinary value AI can provide in specific verticals like transport, health, and education. Take self-driving vehicles for example. 🚙 This technology will eliminate the daily serious injuries/deaths we see on our roads – tragically 1 serious injury/death every 22 minutes in the UK costing the NHS £2.3bn. Over the last decade, the industry has recognised that AI is required to achieve self-driving at scale, the problem is too complex to solve with hand-coded rules and maps. Most of the debate around how to regulate AI focuses on cross-sectoral regulation. For self-driving, this won’t work. We need regulation designed by the sectoral experts themselves in government, industry and academia to address the specific opportunities and challenges of self-driving. And, we’re already doing that! As an industry, we must follow rigorous standards and testing to ensure the technology is deployed in a safe and responsible way. For example, we use systems engineering to ensure our technology has appropriate fail-safes and we rigorously test our performance to understand our AI's capabilities. But that’s not to say there’s no work to do for Government. AI will transform our sectors and our sectoral regulators need support. Instead of risking wasted resources on new sweeping regulators, we need to properly fund and build AI expertise in our sector-specific regulators. This will help us understand the benefits of AI and bringing new products to market safely. We’ll be continuing to talk about the importance and benefits of AI regulation over the next week across my profile and @wayve_ai's. Watch this space! 📍

Reducing accidents doesn’t only save lives but it supports our health service. Did you know that in 2022, road accidents cost the UK NHS £2.3bn in medical treatment and ambulance services? Source: @AXAUK bit.ly/47bFJNR

If you think this is a normal driving video, you'd be wrong. This entire video is generated by @wayve_ai's generative AI model, GAIA-1. The model was built to generate realistic driving scenes into the future to improve safety of self-driving cars in the real world.
