We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

Today the EF and OA announce zkAPI—a new means for private AI Picture this: deposit ether into a vault, sign a zk proof, get a fixed amount of private inference. Advances like these help us move past middlemen's requirements that we link our data and identities. Read more below
Quick updates on the Open Anonymity project (@OpenAnonProject)! 1. OA-chat is live! You can now signup: chat.openanonymity.ai 2. We collaborated with @ethereumfndn (@VitalikButerin, @DavideCrapis, @VittoStack, @curryrasul) to develop zkAPI, a new zero-knowledge protocol for accessing gated / paid APIs with unlinkability. It’s like a generalization of OA unlinkable inference that also abstracts payments away. Now also available on OA-chat! I'm excited because more infrastructure should exist where privacy and sovereignty is foundational and people are in control.

We can probably get 8 second slots and 2-3 minutes finality by early 2028 already, if we play our cards right and get faster slots done in Hegotá. Let’s get a fast cryptographic world computer!
THE BLOCK: Vitalik Buterin says Ethereum is called a "blockchain" mostly "for historical reasons" and is turning into a "cryptographic world computer." Buterin projected slots of 4 to 8 seconds by 2030, and finality in 8 to 32 seconds in a new blog post.

Reminder: you can now sync an ethereum node within half a day and with aggressive settings the space it takes up on disk can be under half a terabyte. EIP-4444 and hard work by client teams on optimizing snap sync has improved things *a lot*. Glamsterdam will improve the sync situation further still (eg. Nimbus's new sync protocol uses it)

For a while, agent payments drew a great deal of attention. As standards like x402 and ERC-8004 appeared, it was often said that a world in which agents find and pay for services on a person's behalf was just around the corner. Yet when you actually looked closely, most of what existed was at the demo stage, and many observers judged that the transaction volumes being announced were closer to wash trading than to real activity. So what does it look like now that the attention has moved on? I was curious, so I built a small screen that reads on-chain data directly and left it open for several days to watch. What I saw was a steady stream of wallets paying a few cents to some service through a facilitator, with the transaction settling on Base or Polygon a few seconds later. The amounts are small and the counts are not large, but it was happening more consistently than I had expected. Attempts like x402 are ultimately about filling the place where a person used to be, and once agents start doing work with the same authority as humans, payment stops being an option and becomes a precondition. That is why I pay attention to these small numbers. Today's payment systems are all built on the assumption that there is a person in the middle. Creating an account, registering a card, and reviewing an invoice are all things a human does. But when an agent starts calling external services thousands of times a day for search, data lookups, or code execution, a person cannot step in to pay each time, and what becomes necessary is a way to pay small amounts per call without an account. The few-cent payments on my screen are what that method looks like when it actually works. This is why I believe we should be looking into and preparing for the agent payment market now, before it arrives in earnest. Which standards take hold, which facilitators handle settlement, and which chains activity gathers on are being decided now, while volumes are still small. Human payments grow one user at a time, but agent payments grow all at once when a single line of code changes. Starting to build the surrounding infrastructure at that point, such as key management, spending limits, and audit trails, would already be too late, and this quiet period is precisely the time to understand the structure and get ready. The work I am doing is aligned with this as well. For an agent to make payments without human intervention, what is needed first is not the payment protocol itself but the things that sit before and after it: keeping the agent's keys safe, defining through policy how far it is allowed to spend, and leaving a record of what it paid for. I see what has been built through node operations and custody infrastructure leading naturally in this direction, and I am preparing the infrastructure an agent needs in order to become a trustworthy paying party.

Custody is not just about keeping Bitcoin safe. For a public company, it’s also about proving what you hold, how assets move, and whether the controls stand up to audit. Bitplanet, a listed Digital Asset Treasury company in Korea, has selected DSRV as its new Bitcoin custodian — with auditability, accounting, and internal controls at the center of the decision. This is what institutional-grade digital asset infrastructure looks like. n.news.naver.com/article/018…
