Air Force has done it twice this year, including yesterday. NFL continues to copy college football.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are just the 4th team since the addition of the forward pass (1933) to win a game while recording 0 or fewer passing yards. - Bills vs. Jets (9/29/1974) - Redskins vs. Steelers (11/27/1955) - Browns vs. Eagles (12/3/1950)

people will be so snobby about arts and literature and then look down on sports as if this isn’t the most visceral expression of the indomitable human spirit. sports distills what it means to be human in a way no painting ever could
USC Mark Bowman’s 70-yard run, when he hurdles a defender, goes crazy from the field level view 😮‍💨

H.S. football is another one of those things that would clearly be illegal if it was newly invented. It's hard to judge, kids get badly hurt but football is exactly what a boy needs exactly when he needs it. And it wouldn't work the same if it was badminton. Has to be "real."

Who’s ready for some real talk on Social Security? Here it is: you didn’t “pay in” to Social Security, there’s no deposit account with “your” money in it, and every single dime of Social Security taxes you’ve paid in your entire life went directly to someone else or was frittered away by Congress. For many decades after the program was created, there was more money collected in Social Security taxes paid in than money spent on benefits. This was due to the demographics of the country at the time: in 1950 there were 16 workers paying Social Security taxes for every 1 recipient of benefits, whereas today there are fewer than 3 workers per beneficiary. So obviously, all that extra money collected for decades when there were more taxes collected than benefits paid was set aside and invested, right? LOL. If only. Instead of setting all that extra money aside and protecting it for future beneficiaries, Congress spent it. Every last penny. Every dollar that has been collected in Social Security taxes has been spent. What Congress did instead of saving money was create a massive IOU which it dishonestly called the Social Security Trust Fund. Except there’s no trust and there’s no fund. It’s just a gigantic IOU, like in Dumb and Dumber. There’s no numbered account with money in it waiting to be withdrawn. Where does this leave us? Beginning around 2020, payroll taxes collected were no longer sufficient to pay for current Social Security benefits, so money had to printed or borrowed from elsewhere. As more and more money has to be borrowed to pay current benefits, the Social Security Trust Fund balance is reduced. Once it reaches zero—and right now that is expected to happen within the next 10 years—the government is legally prohibited from paying out more in benefits than it collects in Social Security payroll taxes each year. And that will mean an instant cut in Social Security benefits of around 20 percent. By the year 2100, expected benefits will be just 65 percent of promised benefits. As of today, a 75-year-old who worked for 50 years and earned the median salary will have paid close to $100,000 in Social Security payroll taxes over his life. Based on average life expectancy of another 12 years, he will collected more than $500,000 in Social Security benefits, and those payments will come not from a savings account somewhere, but from taxes paid by his children and grandchildren. But when it comes time for the people paying directly for his Social Security checks to receive their benefits, they won’t get nearly as much as he gets, because the Trust Fund will be bankrupt. The people paying for the Social Security benefits of Baby Boomers today will pay significantly more into the system than the Boomers ever did, but will receive a fraction of the eventual payout. Does that seem fair? In light of those facts, is it really accurate to say you “earned” that Social Security payment? Of course it isn’t. Social Security is welfare for American retirees. And it’s a welfare system that is not only a total waste of money designed to give Congress an even bigger budget to fritter away (if you invested your Social Security taxes, your lump sum at retirement would be 5x higher than your expected lifetime benefits from Social Security), it’s also deeply immoral. Because of the current demographics in the country, Social Security takes money from workers today so it can give retirees 3-5x more than they ever paid in AND will pay out significantly less when it’s time for the people currently paying into the system to collect their own benefits. Boomers receive 3-5x more than they paid in, while their grandchildren will receive 35 percent less than what they were promised. They originally called this the New Deal when it was created, but it’s a raw deal for everyone currently being forced to pay into it. So let’s stop with the pretense that Social Security is anything other than a poorly designed welfare scheme for retirees.

It’s actually borderline sick how much I love football. Not just watching on tv, and cheering for a team, but the real football. The boys on the field. Colder and colder fall weather. The pads cracking. Coaches yelling “low man wins!” Tearing up the turf “stay on your blocks!” The perfect form tackle. The guards pulling perfectly and freight training a hole for the backs. The primal yell of a defensive tackle that blew up his blocker and mauled the running back for a loss. The absolutely perfect ball hitting the wide receiver in stride. The coach slapping the gunner on the shoulder pads for fighting through 2 guys and making the play. The power back who keeps his legs moving and grinds out 2 extra yards. The pain of a stinger that makes your arm numb but you stay in anyway. Raw grinding. Maniacal, yet controlled rage. A shadow of true bloodlust. High strategy and tactics all boiled down to men and boys, their athleticism, will, wits and capacity for violence. It’s the most beautiful game. It’s the most soulful game men play. The most honest

Shaking a 62 year old boomer and yelling ‘divorce is generational trauma and it was stigmatized for a reason for centuries’ over and over till he/she gets it. Idc if you had the best divorce ever we need to be honest about divorce as a culture! And we are not!

I'm excited to watch the real Keldric Luster play this season. It's utterly despicable that a gambling app would digitally alter the appearance of an athlete to mock them. Shameful. Chasing clicks. Infecting society with degeneracy. Trash company.

My devotional loop: wake before the sun, cold water on face, kneel on the tile until it burns, three chapters old testament, one chapter gospel, black coffee, fast until noon, tithe ten percent, resent it, walk to work praying for my enemies by name, lie to a coworker, confess in the elevator, ecclesiastes at lunch, call my mother, dont call my sister, evening prayer halfhearted, wine with dinner, read one church father, feel like an insect, look at my hands, ask forgiveness for the same sin, receive it, dont believe it, receive it anyway, negotiate with God in bed like abraham over sodom, the city is me, whisper i believe help my unbelief, fall asleep

Put every Big Sky school on a map and name me a conference with better locations. Bozeman, Missoula, Flagstaff, SLO, Davis, St. George, Cedar City, Moscow. Mountains, skiing, national parks, California coast. There’s a reason billionaires buy homes in these places. Big Sky country is ELITE.
Bozeman has to be one of the most incredible settings in college football. Montana State sits in the Gallatin Valley with the Bridger Mountains rising just outside town, Yellowstone National Park is roughly 90 miles away, and Bobcat Stadium sits at nearly 5,000 feet of elevation. Big Sky football surrounded by the Rockies—Montana State is one of the most unique places to experience college football. 🏔️🏈

Well crafted vanilla ice cream is delicious - an elegant desert. I don’t know why people make fun of it. Stuffing your ice cream with nuts, cookie dough, chunks of this or that - it’s vulgar. You’re covering bad ice cream.

If you've ever done it, you know what it feels like. It's hard to describe it to those who haven't experienced it. Friday Night Lights. You don't realize how special it is when you are in it. You can't duplicate it when it's over. The feelings, the sights, the smells...all of it.
Boys Of Fall would not have been the same without my good friend @SeanPayton. This is Sean giving a pregame speech in Naperville, Illinois where he played High School football. This speech wasn’t scripted. He spoke from heart. Sean is a great football coach but he is a great communicator and motivator. This speech still gives me chills. Sean I am forever grateful. It’s football season everyone. KC
