Fund manager friend of mine, who is DDing claviculars rumored a16z-backed cosmetics line, saw Kimchi at the Chrome hearts store and said he was buying everything
I thought about this deeply and realized we are going to have a depression
$hype druck and elon and all we got was an institutional grade lower high
i think variational can win a serious share of the tradfi trading coming onchain, swaps being the main catalyst for this.
rwas already have deep markets. swap financing is tied to the underlying markets rather than perp positioning. if that translates into better all in execution at size and more predictable holding costs, there's a reason to move flow from places like tradexyz.
we don't need every asset to be a perp just because that's what crypto got good at building.
i see this as a tradfi cycle. we've spent a lot of time thinking about where crypto traders go next. im more interested in what gets someone who already trades stocks or commodities to move their trading onchain.
rfq alone doesn't guarantee good execution. silhouette already combines maker quotes with execution on hypercore, and hl mms can hedge in tradfi too. the question is whether var's dealer relationships and swap structure deliver better all in pricing, especially at size.
there's also pro beyond omni with plans for multiple dealers quoting institutional otc trades and settling onchain. i'd like to understand how $var makes money from that.
hype showed how much could be built beyond the first trading product. in comparison i'm looking at what var can build around its quoting and settlement rails.
olp is where i want more detail. docs say team seeded olp, so if it takes a hit it's their money first, kind of like a gp commit. good, but that doesn't cover upnl if olp itself goes under. collateral staying onchain isn't the same as knowing you'll get paid when you're in profit. what happens if a venue they hedge on goes down? and if swaps are closed on weekends, what happens when you need to get out?
i expect spreads to get tighter. the bet is that they win enough flow to make up for it.

binance getting hacked for $3b the same day the u.s. adopts hyperliquid?
ggwp @CIA
could see retail finding hyperliquid through elysium trenches who were never going to come over
hopefully they have some money left by the time they find the rest of it
bring fomo and pump to elysium and let them do their thing. half the sequencer revenue buys $kntq

This is what trading on @instinct_xyz is like. Same frontier models that desks at Citadel and Squarepoint Capital use, now available for everyone with the lowest possible Hyperliquid builder code.
