This. All of this.
Have a great week.
Stop frying your brain with endless short form content. Read long, complicated, books. Especially novels. Cultivate the ability to think deeply. To focus for long periods. Stare into space and enjoy boredom. Do tasks without any media playing in the background. Resist the urge to reach for your phone every time you feel uncomfortable. Get used to being with uncomfortable emotions instead. Wonder and think about the questions you have instead of asking AI. Become deeply present with everyone around you. Your ability to focus, pay attention, to think deeply, is one of your most valuable assets. Reclaim the immense beauty of experiencing your life directly instead of living it through a screen.
My favourite genre of video these days is the restoration genre. Shoes, old cars, houses. The time lapse variety especially. Fascinating to watch the craftsmanship.
Loud headlines make for great distraction. Read between the lines and you'll see another green space in the city is quietly changing hands.
May God uphold we.

Man!!
We’ve been conditioned to think pushing kids to exhaustion builds character.
But this glorification of suffering stems from extractive systems designed to squeeze out maximum labor. Real cognitive development needs rest and play, not machine-like overwork.

The issue isn't about getting the masters degree..
The issue is about what skills you pick from it. I look at a masters degree as preparation for "early early" career researching.
At the very least, one should be able to diagnose a problem, propose a method to solving it etc.
