The term ‘warm-up’ is misleading because the purpose of a warm-up extends beyond simply increasing the bodies core body temperature.
The concept of harmonious passion: "Those who focus most on success are least likely to achieve it. Those who focus least on success, and focus on the process of engaging in their craft instead, are most likely to achieve it" ~ The Passion Paradox

Reminder to young athletes: Just because your favorite pro runner posts a seemingly insane & inspiring workout video to Instagram 4 times per week DOESN'T mean you should: - Push your easy runs - Overwork yourself in the short-term - Only seek doing super impressive workouts

When all you see are absolutes and not context you will limit the training and results of your athletes. Everything works, nothing works for ever, and some things work best in certain circumstances. The "this is the only way" mentality shows inexperience, arrogance or both. – at Coral Gables, FL

Sometimes I have to remind myself that the point of a session is to gain fitness, not to prove fitness. This takes confidence and patience. Easy to do properly when you’ve recently had a good race result.

Sleep is the most well-proven performance enhancement modalities out there, and arguably also the most poorly used/executed. Remember athletes: sleep is one of the most productive things you can do.

In our latest post, Coach Jonathan talks about his experience of journeying to Iten, Kenya where he got the opportunity to engage with some of the world’s best runners and their coaches. He shares with us some of the lessons that he took away from it all. runningscience.co.za/2018/07…

Don't mistake understanding something for doing it. Don't mistake talking about something for doing it. Don't mistake telling your friends about how you're going to do something for doing it. Doing it is doing it. It's as simple and as hard as that.

A THREAD: Something I often get asked is "How do you never get injured and stay consistent?" (FYI - 2 days is the most I've had to miss due to injury/sickness over the last 5 years) So these are a few things that I do, which I feel make a big difference:

Very relevant in training: “Not everything that counts can be measured, and not everything that can be measured counts”

If you wait until the athlete is 100% ready to train you will never train. We have gone overboard with monitoring & forgotten that we are coaching people. Great coaching is about... trainingground.guru/articles…
