The Western Cape is blessed with the best marathons in the world. #HangklipMarathon is another to add to your bucket list. Marathon #319 (Unique #195) & lovely to participate in inaugural edition. Nine people ran 4:36 today. I can confirm that I was one of them.

Managed to keep my perfect winning record at club quiz nights before a marathon (even without the assistance of @RefJK). With one of our team members under 18, I scored an extra bottle of See Rowers wine – they are doing the last table at the tomorrow’s Hangklip Marathon so may
well do some tasting. Hopefully this doesn’t prevent me from hitting my goal time of 4:36.
Thanks Hangklip AC for a lovely evening and the opportunity to be your half time entertainment.

Here’s a highlights reel from the inaugural #FancourtMarathon in George. A circular route full of rolling hills and great scenery with 631m of elevation gain. A great new addition to the bouquet of Garden Route marathons and one to look out for next year.

At the 38km mark of a marathon and facing yet another hill, one might be tempted to “pray the kays away”…

The 5km dog’s leg just after the halfway mark of the Fancourt Marathon allows one to check out who to chase and who is chasing you. I like the reframing as a “High 5 Zone”.

UPDATE: Everyone's been waiting for this one - Xneelo can't handle the traffic volumes. 🤣🤣🤣 Calm down guys or I'll have to institute a ballot system for my articles...
Pastor and influencer Refilwe Dzonzie went the extra mile on social media. Unfortunately, she only made it 28km into her debut marathon and got caught out claiming a 4h36 finish. Full story on latest cheating scandal to hit the running influencer streets:

PROMO POST: I received several alerts about another bout of influenzer cheating at the Letsgo Potch Marathon. Just to reassure you, I am on it like vomit.
Article is undergoing a legal review and will be forthcoming on runningmann.com
After #JiggleGate the previous week, I thought I was experiencing some next level trolling when Stu-Dog posters appeared at the turnaround point of the Fancourt Marathon. I have been disappointed with the recent quality of trolling but this would have been particularly impressive
as I had only entered the race on Wednesday, booked my flights on Thursday and the only other people who knew I was running were David Case and my wife.
Turns out the real Stu-Dog – Stuart “you can run but you can’t” Hyde - was just behind me. Stu-Dog’s friends think that he
needs to mix it up with a little cross-training and find a girlfriend but I will do a separate post on that.
Even more important that outing the cheaters is to #FindStuADate!
[And can confirm that I will be publishing the Refilwe Dzonzie article at 4:36pm today]

I believe that this is what they call a rubber plantation. Looks like this year’s harvest is coming along nicely.
[Did ask and it turns out that there is manure underneath the plastic sheeting to create a greenhouse effect for faster composting.]

This special message for all the bad dogs and cheating influenzers is brought to you by the Fancourt Golf Course. There’s some good life advice there.

[We’re being prudent on the legal side so full article on pastor Dzonzie will be published this
Wishing everyone a pleasant evening and a good night’s sleep except for the cheating influenzers.
This is also a good opportunity to thank Mark Leathers and the Mc Naught & Co. team for their exceptional pro bono legal support. I would not be able to do what I do and sleep
soundly at night without them.
Mc Naught & Co are the sponsors of the Bluff Marathon (the best double-lap marathon in South Africa) on 29 November – entries are open here: eventtiming.info/entryonline…
