💔 Max has spent more than half his life waiting for a second chance. When Max (#LA0003) was just a puppy, he was adopted, only to be heartbreakingly returned five months later because he had "too much energy." That was more than four and a half years ago... and now, at 6 years old, Max is still waiting for someone to see the incredible dog he's become. When Max first arrived, he was timid and unsure of the world around him. But thanks to the patience, training, and dedication of our Pet Behavior team, he's blossomed into a loyal, loving Labrador/Hound mix who has learned to trust and is ready to give his whole heart to the right person. Max is happiest when he's stretching his legs, exploring, and then curling up beside his favorite human after a day of adventure. He's looking for an experienced adopter who can continue building his confidence, with a large fenced-in yard where he can run, play, and simply be a dog. Max would do best as the only pet in an adult-only home. Every day, Max watches other dogs leave for their forever homes, wondering when it will finally be his turn. We know his person is out there. Maybe they just haven't met him yet. For more information on Max, please email [email protected] or come our Port Washington, NY Adoption Center and see why everyone who knows him believes he's worth the wait. His forever family could be just one visit away. 💛🐾 #AdoptMax #GetYourRescueOn #SecondChance
