This slopulism is bad news for any fans who do not win the initial ticket lottery or find out about a show after the sale but really want to go (even more than people who won the lottery) and would be gladly willing to pay more than 10% above purchase price to someone who got a ticket and would be happy to part with it for the right price.
Like all price controls, this pushes ticket sales into the black market, and will result in more dedicated fans having to deal with scams on Twitter and in Facebook groups as they scramble to get fewer tickets at higher prices from people only willing to sell at the actual market clearing price. Horrible move from idiots on the council who donโt understand concerts and/or economics.
People should be allowed to just list their tickets, that they own, for the price they are willing to part with them for and people should be free to pay what they are willing to pay to see the show.
Casuals who donโt win the initial ticket lottery wonโt be going either way, this does nothing for them, now they just wonโt have to feel indignant when they see listings from people who are asking for a lot of money to part with their ticket (because they are also fans who donโt want to give up their ticket without significant compensation).
Today, DC passed legislation cracking down on predatory ticket scalpers.
โ 10% cap on the resale value of a ticket
โ Bans speculative ticket sales
โ Regulates third-party sellers like StubHub
The RESALE Act was led by @charlesallen.
Good news for venues, artists, and fans!

Progressives were faster than conservatives to adopt the Internet, and this led to two decades of progressives absolutely curb-stomping conservatives in the culture wars.
Now progressives are refusing to learn to use AI, so there's no chance of repeating the feat.
In case anyone is wondering why we canโt have quality public transit in America. Itโs because the people who ideologically should be advocating for quality public transit, also do this
Anonymous submission:
Last week, a group of activists disabled the OMNY readers at the BQ Church Avenue station in Brooklyn with an automatic center punch and drill. They opened the gate so people can ride for free, and painted the cameras to protect themselves and fellow riders from surveillance.
This was deliberate act of protest against unaffordable transit, hyper-surveillance in predominantly Black and brown neighborhoods, and the MTA's collaboration with the military industrial complex.
YOU ARE BEING WATCHED. OMNY records when and where you travel, your photograph, name, DOB, billing address, and other personal details. This invasive tech creates a profile to track your life and travel patterns. OMNYโs privacy policy places no limits on the data it collects about you.
EVERY TAP FUNDS A WAR PROFITEER. OMNY is operated by Cubic, a military equipment company making combat simulators. They sell the F-35 fighter jet training system to imperialist zionist entities like israel. The F-35 is a key weapon in israel's genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, and all of the US's imperialist wars, responsible for massacring millions of people.
FIGHT BACK. The MTA and Cubic don't deserve your hard earned cash. Take action, smash a reader, jump the turnstile, hold the gate for others. If you must pay, use cash for OMNY cards, and tap yourself and fellow riders in. This makes you all less traceable. Cover your face and identifying features. Always check for police before evading the fare. Remember, contracted security guards have no authority to stop or detain passengers.
RIDE FREE, FUCK THE NYPD, AND FREE PALESTINE!

The problem Dems have is that when they get power, they often try to make votersโ lives worse.
Amazon asked Portland for a Preapplication Meeting for a proposed delivery drone facility.
City staff chose to classify drones as "helicopters" by interpreting rules as strictly as possible, making permitting more difficult.
Now the plan is withdrawn.

As someone who entered college in 2016. Every Zoomer needs to watch this before developing an opinion on the Cornell 7. Weโve been through this before. The culture of fear it created on campus sucked.
Many innocent men had their lives ruined over what often turned out to be rumors and straight up lies.

Luxury beliefs:
- I don't need police (because my neighborhood is already safe, screw those who live in tough places)
- Minimum wage should be $25 (I already make more and who cares that this means fewer entry level jobs overall - harming those who need it - but it makes me feel good to say it)
- Housing is too expensive (but don't build condos in my neighborhood, it ruins the character)
- No new oil & gas! (I can afford the higher energy prices)
- All cars must be extremely energy efficient (it's fine I can pay $35,000+ for an entry level car)
The list goes on. You can believe these things because they don't impact you. But they are harmful to the people you think you're helping.

Progressive YIMBYs in DC fail to acknowledge zoning is not the limiting factor on new housing in DC. Itโs the awful tenant and condo laws, terrible business regs, and high taxes that are hampering growth (in addition to lack of widespread good schools / access to state unis).

Modern politics increasingly rewards having the strongest possible opinion about something you have spent the least possible time trying to understand.
The American voter increasingly demand sensationalism and they have no idea how wealthy they are compared to the rest of the world.
They may end up being the cause of their self inflicted belt tightening and they are in no way ready for an ounce of actual poverty.
We need immediate competence to take over sensationalism and social media, especially tiktok is the enemy of that.

This is the CVS off 14th St. in DC. You can decide crime shouldnโt have consequences. But then the rest of us get to live like prisoners with basic necessities locked behind plexiglass, waiting around to push a button so someone can bring us a tube of toothpaste.
We teach children that actions have consequences. We teach them rules matter. Then they become adults and suddenly we invent a thousand excuses for why neither should apply.
