Colorism plays a role but it is NOT the sole reason. If that were true all the other lightskin female rappers would be right in cardi level but they’re not. And that’s is because of how marketable she is compared to them. NEXT topic!
MONA ADDRESSES CARDI B CONTROVERSY, SAYS COLORISM PLAYS A ROLE IN SUCCESS
Cardi B argued that some people don't get opportunities because they aren't smart enough to market themselves and sell themselves in important rooms.
Mona: “I just thought she was so wrong about it.”
“Cardi is very talented, Cardi better than a lot of people.”
“But If there was a girl that did exactly what I did, and she was big and Black, I can't say that she would make it where I make it.”
“I know part of the reason why I made it here is because I have the complexion for the connection. That's my belief.”
saweetie is lightskin and look at her
