Africa does not need intellectuals who simply translate Western thinking into African languages.
We need scholars who begin with African experiences, challenge inherited assumptions, and produce ideas capable of changing the material conditions of our people.
Africa has gaps in manufacturing, agriculture, food processing, logistics, energy and construction. So why are our best young builders racing to launch another fintech, marketplace or SaaS app? Is it capital, status, or fear of hard things?

An African startup raises $100k and struggles, It's proof that the market isn't ready.
Your argument can be applied in the other direction too. The assumption that democracy will somehow give you Norway or New Zealand style governance is equally deluded. It has been proven time and time again that many African states struggle to make democratic institutions produce accountable and effective government. Once leaders get into power, the mentality often becomes it’s our time to eat rather than it’s our time to serve.
My position isn’t that we should simply give politicians unrestricted power. I’m arguing for an authoritarian technocratic model that’s why China and Singapore were my examples.

- They are all landlocked.
- Three of them have relatively low populations.
- They are the only contiguous block of 4 x African nations that were once fully British protectorates or colonies. Hence.. all have similar governments and legal systems.
- They are all TRYING HARD.
- Three of them used to be the same country, in the Central African Federation.

Text book are no longer referring to the imperialist that entered the shores of Africa as explorers, but rather as invaders.
Calling things their proper names, is a significant necessary step in the decolonization process, and Burkina Faso is taking that step with pride and confidence.
