My wife, self-employed, has not been well for a few years but carried on working as best she could, beginning of this year the doctor said she was too ill to work and was supplied with a sick note, she has been submitting her sick notes to DWP she has had no income at all since last year. Today, she was told by DWP that because she hadn't been working hard enough over the past 2 years, her national insurance contributions weren't to their minimum limit therefore she is not entitled to any money whatsoever despite paying her contributions for 36 years, yet other people appear to get their benefits for never making any contributions to the system at all, seems so unfair.
