But did you ever hear of an Anne Frank denier? His name was Sliman Mansour. He was a Hamas-supporting painter whom New York City’s first lady, Rama Duwaji, has called her artistic “inspiration.” The Washington Free Beacon reports that Mansour, who openly celebrated the October 7 atrocities, also publicly claimed that The Diary of Anne Frank is a Jewish forgery. But Mansour’s denialism didn’t stop Ms. Duwaji from painting Mansour’s portrait as a tribute to him and proclaiming that he “inspired the work that I do.” Note that this wasn’t some teenage crush by Duwaji. Her video about her portrait was posted online just two years ago, when her husband, Zohran Mamdani, already was a New York State assemblyman and was preparing to run for mayor. Mansour’s Facebook posts veered between bizarre rantings about the Nazis, and effusive praise of Hamas terrorists. In 2015, he shared a painting by Hitler and described him as a “technically proficient artist.” Mansour also “liked” a comment praising the Nazi leader as “Muhammad Hitler.” In 2016, Mansour wrote: “The diaries ‘I am Frank’ that they made the world famous finally turned out to be the invention of an American Jewish writer.” (That’s how he wrote it.) In 2017, he praised the founders of Hamas as “great heroes.” Within hours of the October 7 massacres, Mansour posted a painting of his, titled “Rising,” which featured an armed Palestinian Arab terrorist. Ten days later, he posted a celebratory image of Ghassan Kanafani, a founder of the terrorist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. In a 2025 post, Mansour called for “armed resistance” against Israel. In an interview with NPR that was broadcast soon after his August 2026 death, Mansour boasted, “I participated in the first intifada,” saying he threw rocks “and whatever” at Israeli Jews. Ms. Duwaji herself appears to embrace October 7 rape-denial, the Free Beacon points out. In February 2024, she “liked” a social media post that called reports of Hamas gang-rapes “a mass rape hoax.” Yet for some reason, journalists don’t ask her—or the mayor—about that.
