as a video editor, I can see myself doing so much with this
I always ask my client for the video script before he films
I dont ask for it just to plan the edit
and storyboard the animations
Script feedback before filming beats a perfect edit after.
I'm your first viewer so I can call you out before anybody
I'd rather spend an hour reading your script
than three hours fixing footage that was never going to work.
Instagram is going after Youtube !
Instagram launches long-form video called "Features"
They trying to keep their users on the platform instead of them going to Youtube to create long form content
What's your take on this?
Most video editors are competing for attention instead of competing for clients.
Every week,
A new editing style to learn.
Another trend to copy.
Another effect to master.
But how much time do you spend understanding the people who could actually pay you?
Stop chasing trends. Start understanding your ideal clients.

IT'S OVER
Claude KILLED Video editing
AI video editing is trending on Youtube
To the point where I was suggested 4 videos with exactly the same thumbnail concept and premise at the same time
While I was watching an AI related video

A video editor will see this and go:
" damn video editing is really cooked "
If that's you, I really advice you to open your eyes wider
Because it's there.
Creators know their topic
They can't see where the story sags
That's not a cutting problem, it's a perspective problem
I watch your video like a stranger would
and I fix what a stranger would scroll past

I don't take any work
I don't reach out to everybody
I don't wanna explain myself to someone who doesn't understand me
What I do is:
I figure out who my dream client is
& I work towards landing him
Someone who understands content, who has same values as me and see how valuable I'm

Video editing is DONE
those who are saying this have a very low bar of what quality content means
We鈥檙e excited to announce our new CapCut plugin is coming soon to @ChatGPT at CapCutWorldLA.
The plugin brings CapCut's video editing and generation tools alongside ChatGPT. You can start with an idea in ChatGPT, bring it to life with the CapCut plugin right inside ChatGPT, then take your draft video to CapCut's web editor to refine, share and publish.
By bringing the CapCut product you already love and use in ChatGPT, we're making content creation more seamless and efficient.

Your clients hate Revisions more than you do
As a video editor, you want to deliver the project as clean and as fast as possible
As soon as you try to make your editing stand out
You making things harder
For the viewer ( who just wants a solution to his pain )
For your client ( now, maybe he wont post the video in time, lose momentum, views and potential buyers)
and for you ( now your client is not satisfied by your work which you put in unnecessary extra work that ruined everything

I'm tired of people talking about AI
I want more posts like this on my timeline
A few controversial things I believe after years of editing and animating for other people:
1) Pacing beats polish. A fast, clear edit beats a beautiful slow one.
2) Most motion design is decoration. Good motion design is explanation.
3) The best edits are invisible. If the viewer notices the transition, it failed.
4) Streamer editors are the most underrated editors on the internet. They find a story in hours of footage nobody planned.
5) Sound design does more for retention than any zoom effect ever will.
6) The best clients argue about the story. The worst ones argue about the font.
