I can’t believe it’s just now occurring to me that I should have named my fantasy basketball team Dan Sullivan. What a flub by me. Now it’s too late. I will regret this for the rest of the season.

I love that scene in Good Will Hunting where Ben Affleck is talking to Matt Damon's titular character Will Hunting and he's like “you've got a gift man and you've gotta get outta this town and make something of yourself” and the gift in question is being really good at math and the town he needs to get out of is Boston, Massachusetts.

The NYT and WSJ — the two major destination news publishers with stable, profitable business models — are going to have even more insane moats as social/search traffic enters its final death spiral.
Reddit call was absolutely fascinating. Everyone should listen to it as a bellwether for where the internet is going - AI Mode is increasingly default Google experience - AI Mode provides rich info and data in line, less incentive to leave search - AI Mose incentivizes dialog, Google wants to keep you engaged to serve more ads at each turn - Google will milk search for as much revenue as possible as they transition from a search company to a cloud service and chip company - As traffic from humans becomes more scarce this will put Google in an increasingly adversarial position to the rest of the internet - This is a massive headwind to all media type companies who are not destinations - This is a massive headwind to all content-driven go-to-market motions especially in the SMB. You have seen companies like HubSpot and Monday.com get crushed by this funnel collapse We are entering the end game - a knife fight for the remaining and dwindling volume of human traffic on the internet

im four beers deep and i need everyone to understand that wikipedia is the last good thing. millions of strangers agreed to write down everything for free and then argue about citations forever. no ads. no paywall. this should not exist and it does and i'm crying about it

To walk the road of peace, sometimes we need to be ready to climb the mountain of conflict. Thank you.
We asked Xavier Becerra if he identifies as a NIMBY or a YIMBY and I am still dying over his answer. Great interview by @SophiaBollag, who tried to get him to say literally anything substantive.

For the past 2 years, many people argued that Jokic deserved MVP over Shai because if you had taken Shai off the Thunder, they still would have been good, but if you took Jokic off the Nuggets, there’s nothing left. I look forward to SGA winning his 3rd MVP on these grounds.
Oklahoma City Thunder's Chet Holmgren underwent treatment Friday to address a small patellar tendon tear and is expected to return to play in 8-to-10 weeks.

Fun hypothetical: In what year will Barack Obama not be the youngest living former president?

JDub is obviously one of the great players, also seems like one of the all-time great dudes, just awful to see that injury.

Anthony Davis with an unreal quote about the Wizards crowd. “I’d like it to be a little more packed in there, but the crowd was great, they were into it, got us over the hump…Even when I was here last year, very first home game. It was like ‘Dress Like a Seat Night’ in here.”

Every cycle gets a signature Trump rally bit. 2016 had the snake, 2024 had the YMCA dance, and 2026 gets Jon Husted’s ass
Trump on Jon Husted: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"

GOD it feels good to have Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the best basketball player on earth, back in my life.

Such a microcosm of our times. These two perceive themselves as enemies yet if they could simply turn down the temperature they would realize they are bound by a shared belief that the west coast is soft. Which it is. 🇺🇸🤝🐄🌆
Full audio of LeBron GOING OFF on a Knicks fan who called him soft 😭 “Ain’t nothing soft in the Midwest.” “I’m not from the West Coast, I’m from Ohio, baby. I’m an Ohio baby, f*ck is you talking about?”

DC has this, for DCA and IAD! New York doesn't, Boston doesn't, Los Angeles doesn't, Houston doesn't.
Having a train that takes you directly to the airport is genuinely one of the top 10 things a city can offer. No expensive taxis, no sitting in traffic, no begging someone to drop you off. Just get on the train and arrive at the airport. Every major city should have this.

You’re telling I can have this country’s best city (New York), 2nd-best city (DC) and 4th-best city (Philly), + Baltimore & Chesapeake crabs, + the gently rolling hills of central Kentucky, + the drama of the Badlands, and you’re asking me if I’d choose another region? lol no
You can only live & travel within one region of the United States for the rest of your life. What are you picking?
