With not-so-gentle prodding from Hatekhori Publisher, I wrote my first tiny monograph, on the politics of toilets. From who gets to go to a clean toilet to who cleans it, "Bathroom ta Ki Tor Babar" is an angry look at the politics of sanitation and sanitary labour.
Should be available after next week. Many thanks to Chandrabindu the Band for allowing me to borrow their immortal lyrics. @Anwesha_sg @DebalinaMajumd4

Statistics tell us how many. We want to know how it feels. 🧠📉
Behind every "deleted" checkmark on a voter list is a person facing uncertainty, anxiety, and a sense of exclusion. At Sabar Institute, we are launching a state-wide rapid survey to document the mental health toll of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise across West Bengal.
We aren't just looking for data collectors; we are looking for volunteers who want to help us bridge the gap between numbers and the human story.
🤝 Join us as a Volunteer. Help us document the psychological impact of disenfranchisement in your community.
📍 Open to all districts of West Bengal.

Suddenly disenfranchised voters told that appeals not before SDO office but in a college. See how they desperately run to new venue. For the poor, the Voter Identity ties them to govt benefits. Such scenes would melt the heart of even Marie Antoinette! teapawt.org/SMitra_/status/2041831…

@AshwiniVaishnaw @RailMinIndia @RailSeva_PRO @railseva @EasternRailway the AC on 13053 EV 1 Compartment has stopped working since the train left Howrah. What’s the point of building overpriced coaches that stink to high heavens and suffocate the passengers to death?
In one of the many things one gets up to during Calcutta winters, here’s a book talk by @oishik_shakya who explores ways of remembering of the collective blot on our conscience. Happy to be in conversation, especially in view of our next film Citizen Nagar

@AshwiniVaishnaw @RailMinIndia @RailwaySeva @EasternRailway at #jhantipahari station 18014 delayed by 3 hours, no light in ladies’ toilet, no waiting room, 3 women shivering in the cold till 2 am.
When the train arrives, S 1 beyond the platform, need to travel through five stinking compartments before reaching the seat.
