How many people behind Trump have had to take out a loan to pay for care?
You keep your for-profit system and we’ll keep ours public.
Yet another reason why we need to reduce our overdependence on US trade, and fast.

If you're a Canadian worker, there's no better place than BC to do an hour's labour for an hour's pay. Since 2024 BC has boasted the highest hourly wage of any province (incl. imputed hourly pay for salaried staff). BC passed SK in 2019, Ont in 2023, and Alta in 2024. #bcpoli /2

We join in mourning the loss of Irene Mathyssen.
She will be remembered as a steadfast working-class feminist, unwavering and consistent in fighting to make the world better for the little guy.

On behalf of all Ontario New Democrats, I'm extending my deepest sympathies to everyone who loved our dear friend and colleague, Irene Mathyssen.
Whether serving as MP or MPP, Irene worked tirelessly to make her community, province, and country a better place for everyone. She was a community champion, who fought relentlessly for women, workers, and veterans.
Irene's loss is immeasurable, but after a life spent as her community's greatest champion, she left our movement better than she found it. I'm thinking of all those who loved her, and who were fortunate to know her like I was. I will miss her infectious smile, her endless energy and of course her friendship. May she rest in peace. We love you, Irene.

I’m deeply saddened at the passing of one of Canada’s best elected representatives, Irene Mathyssen, MP.
Irene was kind, smart, principled, fierce. She fought for justice and equality for all.
Love to Irene’s family, esp. her daughter Lindsay, who proudly carries her torch.
Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. We honour survivors, remember the children who never came home, and stand with the families and communities still healing.
We know the truth about residential schools. Survivors told it. The courts confirmed it. And yet denialism and hate are still with us. We saw it on Sunday, when masked white nationalists showed up on Tkʼemlúps te Secwépemc land to frighten people in their own homes.
We answer intimidation by standing shoulder to shoulder with survivors. That's how we build a stronger B.C., where every child knows they matter.
The cost of living is already too high for families.
The trade war is only making things harder.
Starting Monday, I’ll be rolling out our plan to create good jobs and protect you from rising costs – at the grocery checkout and at the pumps.
Stay tuned.

I spoke with British Columbia Premier @Dave_Eby about Trump’s trade war with Canada. We covered the reaction from Canadian citizens, why there’s cross party political support in Canada for walking away, Alberta separatist vote & more. Listen on the Pod Save the World podcast.

We’re heartbroken by the passing of Amshen Joan Phillip, and a lifelong champion for working people, Reconciliation, and social justice. Her wisdom, compassion, and joy inspired everyone who knew her.

Amshen Joan Phillip was a beloved Member of the Legislative Assembly, with friends in every caucus. She was as kind as her big smile suggested, and she loved a good joke, as told by her deep and infectious laugh. She was also as tough as she was sweet and funny — I admired her courage and tenacity for many years prior to her time as an MLA, and never more than in the face of her illness this past year.
On behalf of all Members, I extend heartfelt sympathy to the entire Phillip family—her devoted husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, and all those who loved her—she was a formidable colleague and we will miss her dearly.
The flag @BCLegislature is at half-mast in her honour.
Rest in power, my friend.

Rest in peace and power, Joan. You made the world better. We are heartbroken for the loss, and unspeakably grateful for your life.
Prayers up for our beloved @joanphillipndp, who is back in hospital.
Joan is one of the most tireless, compassionate, badass leaders I’ve had the privilege of knowing. I’m holding her and her family and community in my heart as she recovers. ❤️🪶

Amshen Joan Phillip was the kind of leader we all wish every leader could be. She was open-hearted, endlessly kind, and infectiously, incandescently joyful.
Sending love to her family, and to Grand Chief Stewart Phillip on a sad, sad day.

Dolly Parton knew what it was like to struggle as she fought for working families her whole career. From providing free books to kids to giving working women our "9 to 5" anthem, she was an icon and an inspiration.
Rest in power to our union sister. We will always love you.
