Riotously & tumultuously assembling myself, then feloniously & wilfully pulling myself down, demolishing, & destroying myself, in an endless dialectical spiral.

For any who missed it on Saturday, I revealed my musical alter-ego @asuggestiveinq with a thread introducing a stylistically varied sample of seven of my songs, with lyrics inspired by—among others—V. Gordon Childe, Diana Wynne Jones, Douglas Adams, Ian Paul Wright, and my cat.

So here's my latest song, the first beta release from an absurdly ambitious prospective project—a concept album based on @IanPaulWright's essay on the Dark Eucharist of the Real God. This is Epiklesis, and it's about that shadow, over there, in the corner. asuggestiveinquiry.bandcamp.…

This tuxedo is manning the barricades at the other end of the cul-de-sac. She and Olive should probably hold a summit.

Mr Oldham continues to bake bread and sweet cakes and the best sort of biscuit (from Hicky's Bengal Gazette, 1781)

Of all the priestly writing I've read, this from eighteenth century Chandernagore is the prettiest and most legible yet

Oh no, it's the first sounds of "sky falling in" season, hope Olive can handle it ok.

A minor curiosity thrown up by my research into my family tree... I picked up an RP/posh accent from my mum as a child (my dad, having been brought up in Canada by a Scot and a Pole, was himself still transitioning to an English accent) and always kind of assumed she had...

... Anyway, my mum always insisted she was cockney by virtue of having been born within the sound of Bow Bells (if only they had been sounding during the War). And perhaps, were it not for her grandma Maud pulling a Hyacinth Bucket, she would have been.

(Mind you, plenty of upper class shit going down elsewhere in my ancestry; but that's not where I picked up my childhood accent from, that came from my cockney great grandma's posh granddaughter.)

I hadn't yet got round to making up her winter seat by the storage heater so she took matters into her own paws

Olive heard something at the cat flap and shot out in an instant; I opened the door to see what was going on and there was a large fox looking terrified and preparing to flee. Like, I'm not sure Olive could take a fox in a fight, and am slightly concerned she thinks she can.

It's weird because when she wants to go out the catflap in the day to enjoy the sunshine or eat a blade of grass, she opens the catflap incredibly hesitantly, snuffling at it for a minute or so. Give her a massive fox and she whips through it in a split second to defend her home.

Like, it was pitch black and pissing it down and there was a clear and present threat at the door and she didn't hesitate.
