Can vouch that this would be an amazing summer job with a very cool group!
FIELD JOB OPENINGS: I'm hiring a crew lead and 3 entry-level field techs to help map fences in remote NW WY this summer. Really important work that will directly inform on-the-ground fence projects and new wildlife research. Please spread the word!

Check out the first ten minutes to hear more about my shed hunting research 🦌
Today on the show, this spring, shed antler hunting is going to look a bit different. Wyomingites will be the only ones allowed to hunt for the first week. Listen to that story and more on the Open Spaces Podcast.

We're hiring a Tools for Working Lands Fellow to help with conservation-oriented research. This is part of a cluster hire alongside 3 other environmental postdocs with @berkeley_ds4e . Please share! Review starts 30 Jan. Info for all 4 jobs: dse.berkeley.edu/postdocs.
Big thanks to @Koshywrites for the feature in @WyoFile on my shed hunting project!
Sometimes I think my research will never see the light of day but then something pleasant like this happens.
.@sammmmaher's GYE Antler Study reminded me of how lousy I am at finding antlers.
The blue collar white dudes who travel for love of horn hunting (yes, that's the profile) find an average of 45 every year.
Happy with the couple I stumble into 😬

Never thought I'd see the day when Wildlife Crossings was formally proposed as a LEGO kit. Then again I haven't touched a LEGO since 1992.

Was this paper worth 1000 core shots to my poor sweet skis (not to mention my face)? HARD YES.
It reminded me how much more we learn from surprising results than from what we expect. When I found opposite interactions between prey availability and roads vs. trails... 🧵[1/4]

@kristinjbarker et al. use novel data from wolf kill sites, to show that accounting for human influences is important for explaining wolf predation patterns. However, wolves may not alter behaviour in areas where prey are scarce.
