Olympia & Ginevra’s paper “Anti-Breast Cancer Stem Cell Activity of Titanocene Complexes of NSAIDs” is out in @DaltonTrans 👉doi.org/10.1039/D5DT01491C
A tidy @Leicesterchem collab: titanocene synthesis in our lab & biology from @_Suntharalingam group — a great friend & colleague
We report two new titanocene–NSAID complexes that show:
🔹 strong activity against breast CSCs, with one rivaling cisplatin & salinomycin
🔹 improved safety when delivered via nanoparticle encapsulation
This is the first study to explore #titanocenes in anti-CSC therapy.

ALT Titanocene(IV)-NSAID complexes Cp2Ti(mefenamate)2 (4) and Cp2Ti(flufenamate)2 (5) show enhanced redox stability and potent cytotoxicity against breast cancer stem cells (CSCs), with 5 rivaling salinomycin and cisplatin. Complex 5 induces DNA damage and apoptosis, and its nanoparticle encapsulation improves biocompatibility. This is the first report targeting breast CSCs with titanocene-based metallodrugs.

Thanks to alumni, staff & friends returning to @uniofleicester today to celebrate our @Leicesterchem Centenary… a day of fantastic demos, culinary experiments and keynote talks 💯
Enjoyed my visit to sunny @UniofReading today for chemistry dept seminar to share our latest work on bimetallic catalysis. Thanks to @DrJamesHallett for the kind invitation and colleagues for interesting discussions!
Glorious weather for our #OfferHolderDay today... meeting future @Leicesterchem students a great reminder why we do it!
🎯Leicester is alive with energy! ⚡Future students are touring campus, meeting current students and seeing where the next few years could take them.
👀Here’s a look at the action so far.
📍Tours every 45 mins – Centenary Square.

Can't get access to any subscription-based @ACSPublications articles 😱 ... this a @Uniofleicester Library thing?
Latest paper by Jamie Allen et al. is now published in @Orgmet_ACS doi.org/10.1021/acs.organome… … a good chunk of Jamie's PhD has been dedicated to the organozinc #synthesis and #catalysis explored in this work... 📄✨
First paper with @TobiKraemer @tcdDublin whose expert #DFT calcs unveiled a plausible mechanism for catalytic hydroboration via a zinc hydride intermediate. ⚙️📈 Looking forward to many more exciting collaborations ahead! #experimental 🤝 #computational
Team Chemistry looking forward to meeting future @LeicesterChem students at our #OfferHolderDay @uniofleicester today! #MeetYourTutors
Happy Boxing Day #preprint from Jamie Allen et al. doi.org/10.26434/chemrxiv-20… … feels a bit like unwrapping next year’s presents early 🎁
