#MintPremium | At the heart of the dispute is a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in March 2024, which Mallika says covers only brand rights and related obligations, not the ownership of family assets or an economic settlement.

The business outlook for software is uncertain and AI has raised costs dramatically with a) massive 4-fold increase in server prices which we need for data centers b) AI usage increasing rapidly, leading to much higher expenses, which we are trying to control.
On top of that is the challenging geopolitical backdrop.
We have cut down on our marketing budget. We have also told our employees that we cannot have our usual pay increase this year. I have apolgized for not being able to avoid this.
We will work hard to avoid mass layoffs but the outlook for software jobs in general is grim. We have not been growing our employee count for 18 months now.
Most of our employees understand the situation. I am thankful to them.
We are in the middle of reinventing ourselves. The next 3-5 years will decide how our reinvention has worked. Please pray for us 🙏

Tata says the €81m bump covers regulatory delays, which pushed the expected closing from Q1 FY27 to November. Iveco closed at €14.40 on 9 Oct, with zero spread to the offer. That price is only a 7% premium to the pre-deal close. @kartik_ayaan writes livemint.com/companies/tata-…

Tata Motors’ €3.8bn Iveco deal is in a tight spot. With the tender closing on 26 Oct, acceptances stand at 28.4%. How will it get to 80% before 26 Oct? Tata has raised its offer by 2% to €14.40/share and called it “best and final.” Three big funds still haven’t tendered. 🧵

The US Labour Dept. just suspended Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL, Cognizant and Capgemini from the green card labour certification (PERM) program. Microsoft and Adobe were also suspended, citing active federal investigations. Sounds massive. The data says otherwise. 🧵

He will be remembered more intensely by the young.
A Swami from a small mutt in Kerala went to court to save his land.
He lost the land.
And still every Indian today is protected because he filed that case.
Kesavananda Bharati became head of the Edneer Mutt in Kasaragod at just 21. In 1970 the Kerala government's land reform laws started taking away the mutt's property. He challenged it in the Supreme Court and Nani Palkhivala argued his case.
It went to 13 judges, the biggest bench India has ever had. 68 days of hearings. On 24 April 1973 the verdict came. 7 to 6.
That one vote decided that Parliament can change the Constitution but it cannot destroy its basic structure. Democracy, your fundamental rights, the power of courts to check the government. No majority can touch these.
And his own case? He lost. The mutt lost its land. Years later he said he didn't feel much, it was God's decision.
He passed away in 2020. Feels wrong that a man who did this much for all of us is remembered only as a case name in law books.

As to @OpenAI's structure being constantly referred to as odd, "Tata Trusts" are a group of public charities by the Tata family members in India. These trusts are non-profit entities, and they play a significant role in the governance and ownership of the Tata Group, which is one of India's largest and oldest conglomerates.

All along, Old Monk hasn't been a rum at all, but a "rum flavoured spirit", based not on sugarcane juice or by-products, but a cheap, neutral base spirit, caramel colouring & additives to pass it off as a dark aromatic rum ?!?
