Replying to @kingstonparkrun
@kingstonparkrun attracts around 400 people each week, will have to relocate under Thames Water’s plans. Burnell Open Space would close for construction and access to part of the towpath route would be lost. Another major local impact of the Thames sewage pump.

🚨 Kingston Council has raised serious concerns over Thames Water’s proposed Thames Sewage Pump: including impacts on the river, bathing area, health, environment, open space and traffic. The pressure is growing. Thames Water must answer these concerns.

Families have swum at Teddington Beach for generations. Now Thames Water wants to discharge treated sewage effluent just upstream. At low summer flows, it could make up 30%+ of the river, at standards much of Europe wouldn’t accept. Protect our Thames. Sign the petition below

āš ļø Toxic algae at London’s new bathing site. The Hogsmill upstream has just failed an Environment Agency audit and Thames Water still wants to add millions more litres of treated sewage effluent to this stretch of river. We should be reducing the pressure, not adding to it.

1/ āš ļø London’s new bathing site at Ham & Kingston has been hit with a toxic algae warning. Just weeks after opening, this is exactly the kind of warning nobody wanted to see. 🧵

6/ Families were promised a river they could swim in and enjoy. They deserve cleaner water, higher sewage standards and proper protection — not another public health gamble. āœļø Sign the petition
