Fortunately my teacher mother taught me about Fannie Lou Hamer but so many don’t know the full story. Not just her voting rights activism but her Mississippi appendectomy is a call for reproductive rights awareness
I was never taught anything about Fannie Lou Hamer in school. Most of us weren’t. This is part of her speech explaining the HELL she endured for trying to register to vote. They nearly killed her. We need a movie about her life.
