Teachers, never take for granted a leader who makes you feel supported, appreciated, valued, and encouraged!

I think the most effective teachers love students.
I think the most effective principals love teachers.
(This was an important thing for me to learn as a young administrator.)

Best retention plan for keeping great teachers? Treat them like they are the best. Few teachers leave an environment where they feel valued, supported, appreciated, and treated like professionals.

The work isnβt always fun. It isnβt always convenient.
You wonβt always feel like it.
You may doubt it at times.
But the work is always worth it.
It always makes you better.
It always moves you forward.
Progress rewards those who show up.

Just because some teachers would rather stay in the classroom than go into administration doesnβt mean they arenβt leaders. Many have amazing talents which can benefit the whole school. Good leaders recognize and value them as experts.
