This is what the institutionalists are focusing their efforts on now: Disavowing #HasanPiker. Not white Christian nationalists? Not the broligarchs? Not the AI overlords? Nope, the guy encouraging young people to use their collective political power for good. F*ck that noise.

Every word of this is agony to read. What Israel is doing to Palestinians is pure barbarism... by far the greatest single crime of the 21st century. Every sane person must oppose this evil.

It’s not complicated: landlords know they can make a lot more money if Andrew Cuomo is in City Hall. That's why they're going all in.

Incredibly powerful investigation in Dutch newspaper NRC: Seven of the world’s leading genocide scholars — including renowned Holocaust experts — describe Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocidal. And according to them, nearly all of their peers agree.

This is quite consequential. China, Japan, South Korea and the countries of ASEAN just issued a joint statement (asean.org/joint-statement-of…) in which they take a unified stance against "escalating trade protectionism", a clear reference to Trump's tariffs. They write that their common "policy priority" is "to reinforce long-term resilience" of the region, which given the policies they detail clearly means building financial and trade infrastructure that aims at reducing their exposure to the US. The statement outlines a comprehensive strategy to strengthen trade between the signatories, enhance local currency bond markets and reduce dependence on Western financial institutions (via, for instance, the expansion of the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralisation, CMIM). Particularly notable is their explicit support for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) - the world's largest trade agreement that includes all the signatories but not the US. All in all, Trump is achieving the unthinkable: bringing East and Southeast Asia together in an economic bloc that seeks to derisk itself from America.

Pretending like this is normal is actually liberalism. By presenting the fascism of the Trump administration as just 'normal' it gives people permission to keep living their own lives the same. Instead of recognizing we need radical escalation and new tactics.
The FBI kicking down doors for publishing anti Israel op-Eds is something that has not happened before and acting like it has always been this way is both wrong and leads people to misunderstand how dangerous this moment is

This is what oligarchy looks like. Since the disastrous Citizens United Supreme Court decision, spending by billionaires in elections has grown more than 16,000%. End billionaire control of our democracy. Overturn Citizens United.

Any member of Congress who purchased stocks in the last 48 hours should probably disclose that now. I’ve been hearing some interesting chatter on the floor. Disclosure deadline is May 15th. We’re about to learn a few things. It’s time to ban insider trading in Congress.

Imagine being China and being confronted with morons of this magnitude at every turn. Our lottery-esque system of wealth distribution elevates so many mediocre people to billionaire status who then speak with unearned confidence. We are such an embarrassment. We built the global system of trade. It made these morons fantastically rich. And now they cry about it all day on this app.
The benefit of @realDonaldTrump’s approach is that we now understand who are our preferred trading partners, and who the problems are. China has shown themselves to be a bad actor. Our counterparties also have a taste of what life is like if they don’t take down their trade barriers. This is the perfect setup for trade negotiations over the next 90 days. Advice for China: Pick up the phone and call the President. He is a tough but fair negotiator. The longer China holds out and retaliates, the worse the outcome for China.

BREAKING | U.S. to Deny Visas & Green Cards Based on “Antisemitic” Social Media Activity—Targeting Support for Palestinian Groups and Resistance to Israeli Occupation and Genocide Starting today, U.S. immigration officials will begin combing through social media posts to deny visas and green cards to individuals accused of “antisemitic activity”—including online speech. The new crackdown, announced by the Department of Homeland Security, will affect individuals applying for lawful permanent residence, foreign students, and “those affiliated with educational institutions linked to antisemitic activity” (what the Trump administration labels universities that saw significant anti-genocide protests and and pro-Palestinian solidarity on campus). DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin stated: “Effective immediately, DHS will enforce all relevant immigration laws to the maximum degree, to protect the homeland from extremists and terrorist aliens, including those who support antisemitic terrorism, violent antisemitic ideologies, and antisemitic terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, or Ansar Allah aka: ‘the Houthis.’” The guidance cites Trump’s new executive orders—Combatting Anti-Semitism, Additional Measures to Combat Anti-Semitism, and Protecting the United States from Foreign Terrorists and Other National Security and Public Safety Threats—as the legal basis for this crackdown.
