French protestors want higher public spending, wages, subsidies and pensions. Meanwhile France has gov’t spending of 57% of GDP (among highest of Western countries), deficits of 5% of GDP, 10 year bond rate >5%, and a currency they don’t control. I don’t understand how this ends.

Good Morning from Germany, where one of Europe’s biggest landlords calls the country “uninvestable.” Heimstaden is withholding fresh capital over Berlin’s expropriation plans. It owns 20,000 apartments in the city worth ~€5bn and estimates a potential €1bn loss. Its hybrid bond has plunged from ~98 cents in August to 82.5. The irony: a policy meant to tackle the housing shortage risks driving away investment without building a single new home. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

AI for industrial engineering will bring humanity to its next technological era. This is a key pillar of our research, and we're deepening our partnership with NVIDIA to address the needs of the manufacturing world
Today we’re announcing a new collaboration with @nvidia to bring AI to industrial engineering:
- faster simulation
- open benchmarks and supporting datasets for physics AI
- evaluations for agentic AI in CAE and EDA

Churchill could have shortened WW2 by years if he had just “done a deal” with Hitler. George Washington could have done a deal to end the American Revolution. Zelenskyy is in good company.

The most built-upon model on the Hugging Face Hub isn’t Llama or Qwen.
It’s FLUX.1-dev from Black Forest Labs, a German lab: 43k derivative models.
Europe trained ~8% of the open-model compute on the Hub, but ~18% of what people build on top of it is European.
Build or surrender? Build, and build open. See you at GTC Berlin this week

Ukraine can't destroy Gazprom's pipelines because doing so inconveniences German consumers.
Ukraine can't hit Russian refineries because that inconveniencs US consumer.
Russia, on the other hand, can destroy Ukraine's energy grid because it inconveniences no one.
Shameful.
