i can spend an entire day surrounded by people and still feel the weight of everything i haven’t said. then she sits beside me， and somehow i don’t feel the need to say any of it.
a successful mission isn’t measured by how impressive the victory looks. it’s measured by how many people make it back. i’ve always believed that. now i have one more reason to mean it.
i spent years believing that the safest thing i could do was keep people at a distance. then she came along and made me understand that distance isn’t the same thing as protection.
there’s a photograph on my desk that has absolutely no tactical relevance. i’ve been asked about it twice. i don’t see a reason to explain myself.
i don’t need her to understand every decision i make. i need her to know that even when i get it wrong， i’ll listen when she tells me so.
some people think discipline means denying yourself the things you want. i’ve spent enough time doing that. these days， i think it means knowing what matters and making time for it.
i’ve never been afraid of a difficult mission. uncertainty is part of the job. but the thought of a future without her is one variable i’m not willing to calculate.
