After nineteen years in government, the SNP have a housing emergency, a mental health crisis and a drug deaths tragedy to answer for. Scottish Lib Dems are doing all we can to unpick the damage, securing additional funding for areas including affordable housing and drug services.

Rural Scotland plays a vital role in enabling Britain to achieve its net zero ambitions but the communities hosting this infrastructure must share in the benefits. We can't allow the Highlands to provide the natural resources while locals are left with little community benefits.

Young people want to work and need the opportunity to do so. If someone is at risk of falling behind, they shouldn’t just be allowed to fall by the wayside. The Scottish Liberal Democrats will bring a national job guarantee for every care-experienced young person.

It’s not good enough that water quality is only tested during the summer months because many of these sites are popular all year round. No matter what time of year it is, we need to give people confidence that our bathing waters are safe to use.

After years of underinvesting in our military, we are exposed and unprepared. We cannot afford to sit on our hands while Putin’s aggression intensifies. By investing now in six new warships, we can ensure Britain has the defence capabilities we need to stand up to the Kremlin.

The decision on Jackdaw must mark the tipping point for the transformation - not a fresh excuse to put it off. It's time to drive down demand for gas and wean ourselves off fossil fuels. It's why Lib Dems are calling for the rapid expansion of climate-friendly heating systems.

Money raised from the North Sea should help the people who work in it. That means paying for retraining, so offshore workers can move into good jobs in renewables, and building up a supply chain here in Scotland so those jobs are created at home, not overseas.

It's clear Scotland has an issue with sewage overflows. 100,000 sewage dumps were recorded in 2025. The Scottish Government needs to start taking the sewage crisis seriously. That means tracking and reporting every overflow and modernising outdated regulations.

The first half of this year saw coastal and island communities forced to endure a level of chaos that no public service should ever sink to. Passengers are having to file claim after claim to fund their food and travel while they make other plans for often vital journeys.

We need to see the Government finally start taking the sewage crisis more seriously. Scottish Lib Dems want to see a Clean Water Act to take the sewage scandal seriously, track down and report every dump, and replace outdated standards with modern enforceable regulation.

Only 60% of A&E patients were seen in under 4 hours in the week ending October 11th. Scottish Liberal Democrats will continue to hold the SNP to account for its failure to ease the pressures on our NHS, end corridor care, and give Scotland the health service it deserves.

It's unacceptable that patients are stuck in waiting rooms for hours on end. Too many beds are occupied by people who can’t get the care package they need to return home. We need to fix the underlying problems in social care, letting people leave hospital with the care they need.

It's no surprise to see Reform's wheels coming off. After a chaotic campaign in the spring, the party has been hit by scandal after scandal, and I'm sure more and more of its MSPs will be taking a long hard look at what they've signed up for.

Home-educated young people face extreme barriers to accessing examination and assessment arrangements. The Scottish Government should urgently publish plans to support cost-free and barrier-free access to examinations for all home educated young people in Scotland.

The crisis in social care is at the heart of these pressures, but the SNP have failed to tackle it. We need to get people the care packages they need, letting them leave hospital on time and freeing up bed space for new patients.

With one fantastic set of elections behind us we are ready for the next. Electing Liberal Democrats to where decisions are made simply makes the lives of people better. It just does. That's why we want more Lib Dem councillors in the heart of local government.

Housing support for people on Universal Credit or Housing Benefit has not moved in more than two years. This support is set by the UK Government, so it is for the Chancellor to fix. He should use this month's Budget to bring it back in line with local rents.
