The most crucial aspect of Modi-era governance is the operating relationship between citizen, state, and opportunity, and the mindset change it drives. It is an underexplored dynamic I have written on since 2012. My latest on the shift, and why it matters for #ViksitBharat2047.

This day in 2013.
@narendramodi's blog on 2002 came that December.
There are experts on Modi, authors who write on Modi, & then there’s me.
Others analyse; I forecast.
A category of one. :)
If you have experience of the infra sector in the state, you learn to not take any project opposition seriously. More often than not, it's either paid opposition, or done with an intent to extort. Wrapped up in causes & concerns. Not that there aren't any genuine concerns; just that they rarely are the real reasons for opposition.
An independent director on SWIFT's global supervisory board.
A friend recently asked me which digital payments app I was using.
When I told her, she promptly asked, “Why not use BHIM, our very own Indian app?”
I admitted I didn’t know much about it.
“Well, let me introduce you to someone you’ll enjoy meeting.”
That someone was Dilip Asbe, MD & CEO of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
Dilip kindly agreed to come over for a chat.
That conversation was illuminating, to put it mildly.
We all know the payment apps we use every day. PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM…
But think of them as trains running on a railway network.
NPCI provides the tracks.
And what an extraordinary railway India has built!
In September, UPI alone processed over 2,400 crore transactions. That’s more than 80 crore transactions every single day!
India is now the world’s largest real-time payments market. A true global force multiplier.
And Dilip has been one of the key people behind that remarkable achievement.
His mind is buzzing with plans to build more ‘railroads’ that will enable new apps in wider financial spheres.
But here’s what struck me most about him.
Not the scale of his achievement. Not his knowledge of the technology.
His humility.
Dilip is well known in financial & technology circles. But I met a man with no airs, no sense of self-importance & seemingly little interest in the spotlight.
Just immense pride in what his team has accomplished & a genuine sense of privilege at being able to serve his country.
I also learned that his mother was a teacher.
Perhaps I’m biased, but I’ve always believed that mothers who are teachers have a special knack for instilling values that last a lifetime. And I couldn’t help wondering if that explained something about Dilip’s grounded personality.
People like him derive their satisfaction not from being seen, but from seeing their work make a difference.
Thank you, Dilip, for the conversation. And for reminding me that ambition & humility can indeed travel together on the railroad to success.
And I’ve switched to the BHIM app now!

Saute garlic & oregano (or mixed herbs), toss in boiled potato wedges, add salt as per taste.
Optional: chilli flakes & chopped jalapenos.
Super quick, super easy, super yummy.
"The very diversity that characterises India, acts as a crucial barrier to large-scale and nation-wide street revolutions, as no single issue resonates uniformly across the entire population. Additionally, the inability to rise above political divides means that mobilising the masses for a regime-change operation is also limited. However, it is possible to create chaos through multiple localised disturbances and protests, or to trigger large-scale communal violence."

Why mass revolution won't work? Diversity & divides. But chaos can be created.
Genuine grievances must be addressed, but it is important to not appear weak in the face of engineered disruptions, as this can embolden more groups to resort to street power.

Doing more harm than good to the society. I know ppl make money through it, but at what cost is the q no one is asking. Moral decay, waste of time in what looks like reel watching addiction, obsessive reel making everywhere one goes, no sense of privacy/security leaving entire life/family details on the net, & so on. I am not even considering political interference aspect.

My post literally states:
"Could the Modi govt have done more? Maybe."
I am also the only person, who supports @narendramodi's vision, but has pointed out repeatedly in articles & on X about him losing touch with the ground & how his party's NaMo dev bhava sits awkwardly with his nagrik devo bhav governance.
However, I am NOT here to listen to anyone wanting to vent frustration about Modi. This isn't just about quoted post but a general thing that I have experienced over the years. If Modi isn't meeting your expectations, tell HIM. I am not a BJPite, I am not his adviser, I am not getting paid to collect feedback. So, please don't bother me with your views/frustration on Modi.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.

I'm one that strongly feels india 2026 is far better than india 2014 but much more could have been done on core issues that were not done. And some Gandhi family traits like cult worship should have firmly been kept out

Article itself says ‘They clarified that the kitchen's food was served only to the governor and a few members of his personal staff. Other employees either brought food from home or ate outside, and no restrictions had been imposed on their food choices, the sources said as cited by PTI.’

Ask him. I am quite tired of ppl who refuse to acknowledge anything positive. THAT was the entire point of the post, but never mind.
Qureshi said this:
“Wakf Act is undoubtedly a blatantly sinister / evil plan of the govt to grab Muslim lands."
After that, you kind of expect that he will get worse & find opportunities to target the govt.
The @narendramodi govt's actions wrt Netaji.
- Hoisted the Tricolour at the Red Fort in Oct 2018 to mark 75 years of Azad Hind Govt.
- Declared Netaji’s birth anniversary, 23 Jan, as Parakram Diwas. Republic Day celebrations brought forward to start on 23rd. INA veterans at the Republic Day parade.
- Declassified GoI files; also sought declassification by foreign govts.
- Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar for outstanding contribution in disaster management - 51 lakh for institutions, 5 lakh for individuals.
- 125th birth anniversary celebrations. Commemorative coin & stamp.
- Netaji’s statue at India Gate. Museums. Renamed Ross, Havelock & Neil islands. Upcoming memorial.
Could the Modi govt have done more? Maybe.
But overlooking what has been done (evidently more than under previous govts), does not help. And as @anujdhar himself points out, Modi didn’t milk Netaji’s name for votes in WB. Doesn’t that suggest these actions stem from genuine respect for Netaji?
