No hidden rules: the 10 minute check before you pay any prop firm
It happens again and again: a trader pays for a challenge, passes it, and then meets a rule they had never read.
The fee bought a published rule set. Profit target, daily loss, maximum loss. All of it was on the page. The condition that decided whether the payout cleared was not. It showed up on the withdrawal form, weeks after the money had already left the account.
A prop firm sells you a challenge: a simulated account plus an evaluation to pass before you trade it. The payout, your slice of the profit, is the part everyone is really there for. Those two things are the whole business, and the rules that govern them are the only thing worth reading before you pay.
Some rules live at the payout desk instead of on the sales page. They sit there the whole time. You just can't see them until your money depends on them.
The real test
We have watched enough traders hit the same wall to know the damage rarely comes from a rule that was impossible to meet. It comes from a rule nobody could find in time.
Any firm can print "no hidden rules" on a homepage. Proving it is the hard part. Here is the test to run before you send a cent to any prop firm: can you predict the full experience from the program pages?
Profit target, daily loss, maximum loss, payout schedule, refund terms, banned practices. When every one of those is readable before checkout, the claim holds up. If finding a single one takes a support ticket, an email chain or a forum thread, the rules were hidden until it suited the firm to mention them.
Where rules hide
The gaps show up in the same places every time:
• A payout condition that only exists on the withdrawal form
• A withdrawal minimum that appears after you pass
• An inactivity clause where the clock starts the day you pay, not the day you stop trading
• Terms that get rewritten after your purchase
• Refund fine print listing which programs qualify and which splits count
• A reward schedule that turns out to be monthly, or tied to a milestone, when the sales page only ever said you get paid
A withdrawal minimum is the clearest version of it. You pass the evaluation, you request a payout, and the form tells you the account needs a minimum profit figure first. That number was never on the page you bought. Nobody failed a rule there. They bought a different product than the one they thought they were buying.
We are not naming firms, because the point is the checklist, not any one company. If a rule changes what your account pays you, and you couldn't read it before you paid, it was hidden. The timing is what makes it hidden.
What SFX publishes before you buy
2-Step Challenge: starts at $5,000 for $19 while the current promotion runs ($39 standard). 8% target in phase one, 5% in phase two. 4% daily loss, 8% maximum loss. No time limit. Rewards on demand. 85 to 100% profit split.
The daily loss is the most you can lose in a single day before the account gets stopped. The maximum loss is the most you can lose across the whole account, start to finish.
1-Step Pro: a $10,000 account for $59 ($119 standard). One phase, 9% target, no daily loss limit at all, 6% maximum loss. No time limit, rewards on demand, up to a 100% split.
Instant Pro, our flagship: starts at a $5,000 account for $36 ($72 standard), with sizes up to $400,000. No evaluation and no profit target, so you start trading the moment the access fee clears. 3% daily loss, 6% maximum loss, 20% consistency rule, rewards on demand, up to a 100% split.
Instant Standard: 2% daily loss, 5% maximum loss, 15% consistency rule.
Instant Flex: no consistency rule at all. 2% daily loss, 5% maximum loss, and a published bi-weekly reward cycle.
Add-ons are priced up front too. A reset and a 90% starting split each add 20% to the fee.
The guarantee you can test
Eligible reward requests are processed within 48 hours, or SFX adds $1,000 to the payout, subject to the published guarantee terms.
The payout is where hidden rules surface. A firm that attaches a penalty to a slow payout has nowhere left to hide.
Read the eligibility terms behind that guarantee, not just the headline. The 48 hour clock starts when an eligible request is submitted, and eligibility carries published conditions. A guarantee you have actually read is one you can hold a firm to later.
The record
• More than $3.5 million paid out
• 32,000+ traders across 130+ countries
• Average payout of $1,132
• Payouts averaging under 8 hours
• 4.8 out of 5 across 3,000+ reviewed traders
It all sits on the site, so you can check the numbers without trusting us.
The fee isn't a cost you just absorb. It's 100% refundable once you're earning as a funded trader. That is written into the refund policy, so you can read how your fee comes back before you buy.
Instant has no evaluation, so there is no phase to pass and no wait before your first trade. You can run expert advisors (EAs, automated trading programs), hold positions overnight, and hold them through the weekend.
The 10 minute check
Run this on any firm before you pay:
1. Find the loss limits. The daily loss and the maximum loss both belong on the page. If one is missing, you have your answer.
2. Read the payout conditions. When you can request, how long processing takes, and which milestone has to be met first.
3. Read the banned practices list. Whatever ends an account, the consequence should sit next to it.
4. Check the payout guarantee. A processing window in writing beats a support ticket every time.
An item you can't find is the item that decides your payout. Ten minutes there now beats a month of chasing support later.
Two habits make the check stick:
• Screenshot the program page and the terms on the day you pay, so a later rewrite is visible.
• Keep your own log of every payout request with the date, the amount and the split you were paid on.
When a firm and a trader disagree about what the terms said, the records settle it.
SFX publishes its banned list on the same page as everything else. Copy trading, third party EAs, and running the same EA on more than two accounts all end the account, and the consequence is published next to the rule. Naming a rule is easy. Naming what breaking it costs is what proves the page is complete.
Rules before price
A cheap entry only works if you can trade the rule set that comes with it. A bigger fee you can earn back is worth more than a small one you can't.
If you are buying your first challenge, the rule set matters more than the price. Everything else on a site is a claim: the payout speed, the split, the reviews. The published rule set is the one part you can read line by line before any money moves.
A no hidden rules prop firm has nothing left to hide, because the whole rulebook already sits on the page before you pay. Read it first. Then decide.

Every SFX account is simulated capital. You pay an access fee, not a deposit. Past performance is not a guarantee of future results, and trading involves risk.
