ALT 14:05 - 15:20 UTC, Session B 💡 Enhancing Statistics Instruction Through Educational Applications By Victoria Celio (York University) Abstract: Introductory statistics courses are crucial to many undergraduate programs (e.g., Psychology). Unfortunately, many students do not look forward to completing introductory statistics courses (e.g., Bourne, 2018; Murtonen et al., 2008; Onwuegbuzie, 2004). Educational applications (EA) created through the Shiny package in R (version 1.10; Chang et al., 2015) offer a promising approach to improving students' experiences in these vital courses. These applications are user-friendly tools accessed via phone or computer browser that reinforce statistical concepts through interactive functions (Chance, 2007). These applications can be used for various purposes, including teaching general statistics concepts, inferential analyses and coding (Wang et al., 2021).
