21 years ago I named "Reddit" and everyone said it was a horrible name, but I insisted one day people would say "I read it on reddit" and used my CEO-privilege to overrule everyone + kept the name. Now the company twitter account (unbeknownst to them) is making the joke. Heh.
I'd tell you a joke, but you've probably already Reddit.

John spoke at a Collab Fund summit. This quote from him is such a good articulation of our worldview. "Business is good because it creates value, it is ethical because it is based on voluntary exchange, it is noble because it can elevate our existence and it is heroic because it lifts people out of poverty and creates prosperity."
"Capitalism created the possibility of the win win win. It used to be a zero sum game where somebody won, somebody else lost. The biggest mistake people make they still think we're in a zero sum world. They're obsessed with some billionaires because Bernie Sanders thinks that @JeffBezos and @elonmusk somehow stole the money from the people. They don't understand that it's this prosperity machine that's creating more, not just for those billionaires, but for everything that they're touching. They're creating value for their customers, they're creating value for their employees. Their suppliers are flourishing, their investors are seeing their capital go up. It can be reinvested and compound. All philanthropy ultimately comes from business. That's where the profits are. Where does all the taxes come from? It ultimately comes from business as well. This is the engine that's lifting humanity out. The entrepreneurs are the drivers of that engine. Somebody like Elon Musk, he gets a very, very, very tiny sliver of the value that he creates for the whole world." — @iamjohnmackey

NASA just shared this insane new shot of the Grand Canyon from space 💥 From orbit, the Grand Canyon still looks immense—a vast, winding scar sliced into the Colorado Plateau by the Colorado River over roughly 5–6 million years. Stretching 277 miles long, up to 18 miles wide, and more than a mile deep, its layered walls and dramatic depth remain unmistakable even from hundreds of miles above Earth. Yet the view is also a quiet reminder of scale: what feels monumental to us on the ground shrinks into a single, striking detail when seen against the full curve of the planet.

Collab Fund: proud investors since June 2023 -- before any of this existed. Congrats Kyle and the @MarathonFusion team. Just getting started. 🚀
Last month, we demonstrated high-rate alchemy: turning mercury into real, stable gold, beating CERN’s record by a factor of 10. Last week, we enriched isotopes in the world’s most powerful plasma centrifuge, beating the Soviet record that stood for 40 years. Now, we’re building a fusion reactor in San Francisco to achieve record power density.

Hard not to feel hopeful reading this one. The Allen Institute is using AI to design DNA that delivers treatments directly to the brain cells most vulnerable to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Everything open-sourced. Arc Institute is doing great work here too. These are awful diseases that touch nearly every family (mine included). Grateful for people spending their careers on this. 👏 @Googleorg @AllenInstitute

Pedigree is overrated. Grit isn't. Bloomberg on who he'd hire: "the person whose father never was there, whose mother was in a drug treatment program. And he had to go and work three shifts at McDonald's to take care of his siblings." "No matter how bad things are — looks on the bright side, takes the bull by the horns, puts in the sweat capital. That's where the results are."

Liam Fedus (ex-OpenAI) says real scientific progress needs the physical world, not just more inference: “The data simply just doesn’t exist…you have to build new knowledge.” His new company (Periodic Labs) builds artificial intelligence scientists coupled with autonomous robotic laboratories to accelerate discovery in the physical sciences like physics and chemistry.

In 1997, Apple released the “Here’s to the crazy ones” ad. It was classic Steve Jobs. Didn’t sell specs or pricing to customers. It was a philosophy that attracted a certain community. Bandit Running is using similar playbook in 2026. Its ads aren’t asking runners to buy gear, but join something.
“Here’s to the crazy ones…” Apple’s “Think Different” commercial first aired on this day in 1997. Apple was nearly bankrupt at the time.
