Sunny Mehta said in his first media appearance as Devils GM that he wants to be competitive this year and for the future. He also said that he wants to acquire as much depth as possible and he’s done just that Trading for Lombardi (23) and Evangelista (24) Trading away a 35 year old Jacob Markstrom who’s on a decline and giving Nico Daws a season to show what he’s got Getting HIGH value back for Nemec who just wasn’t a fit here Acquiring enough depth for the Devils to run out 5 lines And not even just all that… He’s signed/traded for real AHL talent for Utica, getting 4-5 guys who were just at a point per game in the minors #NJDevils

What the 2027-28 New Jersey Devils could look like J. Hughes - Larkin - Bratt Gritsyuk - Hischier - Evangelista Meier - Rodrigues - Brown Lombardi - ? - ? Q. Hughes - ? L. Hughes - Pesce Siegenthaler - Chisholm Hellebuyck Allen (Hamilton, Mantha, Kovacevic gone in that time frame) #NJDevils

Everyone asking “where are you getting all this money for Larkin/Quinn” God damn Sunny Mehta added Mantha, Evangelista, more depth, new Gritsyuk extension and now Hellebuyck with $10M in cap space to start the summer The guy knows what he’s doing… the money will work out
