Four dead and 15 injured following three separate shootings in Deep Ellum last night.
Halloween is supposed to be fun, and now families will be planning funerals, helping their loved ones recover from gunshots, and many who witnessed this violence will live with that trauma.
Thank you Dallas police officers and DFR first responders who rushed toward danger, provided lifesaving care, and worked to protect people in an extremely difficult situation. You are the heroes.
Halloween falling on a Saturday meant we could anticipate exceptionally large crowds in Deep Ellum. I am calling for a thorough review of DPDβs preparation and operational response, including staffing levels, deployment locations, intelligence about potential threats, crowd management, traffic control, and coordination with businesses and private security.
We need to understand how three separate shootings occurred within approximately 75 minutes in such a concentrated area.
This review should not focus on blame, but in determining what happened, what could have been prevented (were there warning signs?), and exactly what we should do differently to make Deep Ellum safer (are there any preventive measures that could be taken?). If outside help is needed, I hope @TxDPS or the Texas @Rangers are deployed to assist.
My deepest condolences to the families and friends who senselessly lost a loved one last night. May your memories bring you comfort and strength. To all of those injured, I am sorry for your pain and injury. I hope you work like hell to be a voice that brings change to this entertainment district. Having a fun night out shouldn't mean you lose your life or get shot.
Save Dallas City Hall is not just a slogan, itβs a movement.

As a matter of government transparency, I think the city should automatically post many documents on the city website, including contracts and travel receipts if paid by tax dollars.
I think the cost and delay for this (and other) open records requests is completely unreasonable.

After waiting 7 MONTHS & threatening a lawsuit, @CityOfDallas finally replied to my open records request w/ $1350 invoice to produce what I'm requesting.
In the age of AI, residents should not have to wait this long & be forced to pay anything for public information.
This isn't the end of this saga...
A duly elected Dallas City Council Member apparently doesnβt think citizens should decide the fate of Save Dallas City Hall through the democratic process.
Odd.

I made a very simple request to @CityofDallas six months agoβI wanted to review any vendor documents & correspondence between JBJ Management and the city.
The request has been βprocessingβ ever since I filed it.
Now, why would "Da Kween" @KBTDallasCM & her buddy Willis Johnson of JBJ not want the public seeing this?
I've heard theories. If you know more, DM me.

Vote NO in NOvember for the City of Dallas Proposition A.
We just had a $1.25 billion bond 2 years ago. Dallas has the lowest credit rating of the 5 large cities in Texas. We have $8 billion in debt. This is the 5th time a police academy project is on your ballot & you still don't have an academy. Vote no and tell the city to come back with a smaller bond that names the project and amount, no redirecting of funds!

Voters in Dallas will soon decide on a public safety bond that would fund new Dallas police training facilities. Critics argue the bond would be the beginning of the process for the city to abandon Dallas City Hall. fox4news.com/news/dallas-citβ¦

You deserve answers & transparency. It's your government and your tax dollars. It's the law. I've called for it repeatedly.
When the Dallas Morning News, WFAA & D Magazine are all writing about the difficulty getting answers, and hiding behind the AG, who is telling the city to release info, and then the news organizations are filing lawsuits, there is a really big problem with city hall. And the problem is not the building.

WHAT IS DALLAS HIDING? Once again, @timmytyper & I agree.
I have experienced this exact lack of transparency by @cityofdallas & am named in several open records requests lawsuits for city travel docs & other info.
Let me remind βDa Kweenβ @KBTDallasCM, Dallas isnβt a monarchy, & you cannot win against @TXAG. State law trumps municipal code (that youβre incorrectly citing to withhold public documents).
