When private tech companies were exercising their first amendment right to moderate their platform all we heard from the tech right was free speech. Now that the government which is what the first amendment is meant to control is literally disappearing people over speech, the right is silent

This is so disturbing on so many levels
Do we understand what’s happening, America?

This is FUCKING INSANE Trump's ICE goons detained a Canadian actress because of confusion over a work visa for TWO WEEKS - shackled, thrown in a van, sent to AZ, kept awake, not allowed to contact a lawyer theguardian.com/us-news/2025…

Just awful. And if they are going on that all illegal immigrants should be deported - then shouldn't we have deported the the head of X himself, ahem - washingtonpost.com/business/…
NEW! The Trump administration ADMITTED last night that many of the people sent to do hard labor in a Salvadoran prison are people with NO CRIMINAL RECORD. Stunningly, they argue that because they DON'T know much about these people, that justifies denying them due process!

No surprise, but awful!
Elon Musk made maximum contributions today to multiple Republican members of Congress who have backed impeaching federal judges that have ruled against the Trump administration, sources tell ABC News, confirming @nytimes

NEW! Sworn declarations filed last night confirm the Trump admin sent INNOCENT people to rot in prison El Salvador, including a professional soccer player tortured by the Maduro regime who entered this country LEGALLY to seek asylum and has NO CRIMINAL RECORD in either country.

To all my journalist contacts. Apologies for redundancy to those aware of this. On X, to truly have DMs open - you have to click "everyone" can message in settings - otherwise the default is only people who are verified (re: paid accounts). Figured worth noting. #DMsopen

Reposting for all my writer friends/colleagues looking for new opportunities :)
*Call for feature pitches* I commission long, quality features for @BusinessInsider: striking narratives from anywhere in the world. I’m back to work on 4th and there is nothing I’d like more than some fresh ideas to look at. Pitching guidelines are here: docs.google.com/document/d/1…

Apparently @ChaseSupport you do not care about your customers. After 2+ hrs being transferred back and forth from US to Philippines you hang up on a customer who is calm and not irate but just asking for you to solve a problem you created. #chasecustomerserviceBIGFAIL

Apparently I can’t post a complaint to @ChaseSupport - truly awful customer service! After 2+ hrs of no help, your rep (the 8th transfer) hangs up. BIG FAIL.

Test -seems I can’t post. So trying a test.

Cloey provides some thought starters indeed on what Google's decision means to the larger conversation around return to the office or hybrid or fully remote. Check it out. @CloeyCallahan - thanks for the interesting read.
When Google announced that in-office attendance would impact performance reviews, the company was drawing a line in the sand around RTO. Is an action like that one the answer to attract employees back to the office? Here's my deep dive: worklife.news/culture/google…

Thank you to @BAMtheagency for arranging the fantastic webinar with @laurenweberWSJ, @CloeyCallahan & @griccardi_ . I really appreciate these three journalists making time to offer us PR folks insight & advice. Hoping I can schedule some coffee chats next time I’m in NYC.

An end of day shout out to all the affected journalists at Buzzfeed and Insider. My thoughts are you. It has been hard watching so many journalists I've worked with over the years be hit by closings and layoffs. Happy to be a resource in any way I can to all those affected.

So true - social media was not part of the professional resume in my early job hunting days - its refreshing how its changing.
Would you include your social media engagement on your resume? Gen Z is all about it. I remember when we did everything we could to hide our social media from employers!

I couldn't reply on the thread so replying here - I am so sorry to hear this. We haven't worked together in years - but I have followed your work on CNN and truly its their loss. I am sure your talent will bring you somewhere great right away. Best of luck!!
i was laid off from @CNN today (and i'm not the only one). i'm devastated; i loved my job. i was CNN's only AI reporter, and the *last remaining* CNN Digital reporter in the San Francisco Bay Area. i'm taking a beat to breathe, but i'll be looking for a new reporting job ASAP.
Wow - Its been a hard decade+ for journalists, but it seemed like we were starting to come out the other side a bit for just a little while and then this week happened. To all of my journalist friends/contacts - sending virtual support and a hope that things even out again.
It's hard time for journalists, that is for sure. Protocol was just the tip of the iceberg.
