There is no post-Covid classroom. There is continuing to teach during a pandemic, and ignoring the impact of repeated infections on students and staff. The impact on attendance, performance and behavior was predicted and it's all come true.
If you haven’t taught in a classroom post-Covid, you don’t know what it is like to teach the modern student. The students have changed. Teaching has changed. You have to be in the classroom daily to understand what I mean.

Doctors: these are the lengths that patients are going to in order to protect themselves from preventable hospital-acquired infections. If a patient asks you to wear an N95/FFP2 respirator, please respect their request.
I have to do more hospital stuff soon. Much anxiety. A lot of anxiety comes from running a gauntlet of unmasked healthcare workers. I am sad, because they are killing themselves. And I am angry, because they might kill me. Today I ordered 250 double sided business cards:

Doctors, nurses, all healthcare workers I beg you - please wear a mask at work. Be a role model. My neighbour sat through a heart attack rather than go to hospital and catch Covid from the staff and die, as my husband did.

Talking to a friend of mine today who told me he has partial hearing loss after getting Covid and now has to wear a hearing aid. The way the media and government is pretending Covid is a minor infection that doesn’t do serious damage is one of the scandals of our age.
Read the comments 👇🏼 Public Health is ignoring COVID which means the general public who can see the widespread health issues across the population are blaming the covid vaccines. Now people aren’t taking any vaccines. So much damage, so preventable. I despair.

🧵 Hypothesis: altered brainstem microglia may be a major mechanism behind Long Covid 🧠 The idea Lasting changes in brainstem microglia, the brain's resident immune cells, which also clear synapses and debris, may contribute to autonomic symptoms in Long Covid. This is a hypothesis, not an established cause.

A new meta-analysis of 58 studies involving 196,863 people found persistent symptoms after COVID-19. Fatigue affected 29%, breathing difficulties 16%, and joint pain 12%. Years into this pandemic, the burden of Long COVID remains substantial. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

One more sleep until my Snowy 2.0 court case, which might ultimately prevent officials entering into confidentiality agreements that prevent taxpayers accessing performance info about publicly funded projects. It’s an open court - transparency die-hards are welcome. #FOI #auspol
The Govt enters into $100B worth of contracts each year, all with confidentiality terms that prevent citizens from knowing if the contractor is performing well. If I win in the Full Federal Court next week, that’ll all change. #transparency #Snowy #auspol michaelwest.com.au/snowy-blo…

[National Press Club this Wednesday, 4 November 2026] 'Lead Commissioner, Former Labor Minister the Hon Peter Garrett and Commissioner, (Ret’d) Former Chief of the Australian Defence Force, Admiral Chris Barrie will answer the critical questions, “will Aukus keep us safe – and at what cost”. Aukus Public Hearing Summary The consequences of AUKUS will shape Australia’s national security for generations, and such a decision demands genuine, transparent public consultation. Under the banner of the Australian Peace and Security Forum, an independent, non‑aligned, crowd‑funded Public Inquiry into AUKUS was launched in June 2026. The Inquiry has already received hundreds of submissions from across the country, and Commissioners have travelled nationwide to hear directly from concerned Australians — including former prime ministers, defence ministers, senior military leaders, academics, union representatives, and community members.' npc.org.au/events/the-hon-pe… #AUKUS #AUKUSPublicInquiry

Two days out from the AUKUS Public Inquiry publishing its findings and we have this Bill tabled on 27 October with submissions due by tomorrow. Why the rush, Minister Marles? Many of us have long suspected that the Americans will want to control the airspace and the sea space around their bases which raises serious issues about sovereignty and accountability. If the Americans are carrying out nuclear armed missions on Australian soil we will be kept completely in the dark. This Bill is alarming not only because of the inadequate timeframe provided to oppose it and because it will slip blithely through the bipartisan Defence Committee, but because we are handing sovereignty of important parts of our country to the most notorious rogue international law breaker in modern history. We should be completely disassociating ourselves from the US war machine rather than handing it sole control of critical, strategic parts of Australia. Note the changes proposed to the FOI Act: between that and the multifarious physical restrictions, the entire AUKUS project will be effectively blanketed from scrutiny by the Australian public. Get your submissions in by tomorrow and see the must read piece by @JabriRita below. defence.gov.au/about/governa… Submissions - aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Bus… #auspol #AUKUS #AUKUSPublicInquiry @DeclassifiedAus @IPAusNet #transparency #accountability

Really shouldn’t even need to be debated👇
Economist (and Nobel laureate) Paul Krugman: “Control of Starlink must, one way or another, be taken away from Elon Musk. It’s a matter of national security: we cannot let private individuals make foreign and defense policy, and it would be totally irresponsible to leave a crucial military asset in the hands of a racist, authoritarian conspiracy theorist.” paulkrugman.substack.com/p/i…
