Meanwhile my daughter rejected cuddling or even rocking to sleep at 6 months
My wife put our toddler to bed while I cleaned up the dishes after dinner tonight.
A few minutes after my wife came out, thinking it was a successful bedtime, my little girl comes wandering out, looking for someone. She says she’s lonely in the room all by herself.
I tell her to go back to bed and I’ll come check on her when I’m finished with the dishes.
I go in about 20 min later and she reaches her arms out toward me for a big hug. I lean over, take her in my arms, and hear her whisper, “Will you stay in here with me for a little bit, dada?”
My heart melts. “of course, sweetheart. If you close your eyes and go to sleep.”
So, I’m currently laying next to her, scratching her back, and listening to her breath slow as she drifts to sleep.
This is a spiritual experience.
This is a blessing from God.
The love I feel now is a glimpse of heaven.
There will come a time when she no longer asks for me to snuggle her to sleep. I dread that day.
For now, I’m just enjoying the moment.
